Meet on arrival at Bandaranayaka International Airport and transfer to Negombo. Check in at Jetwing Sea 4* Star. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and enjoy an optional sightseeing tour of Negombo. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 02: NEGOMBO / KANDY
Breakfast at Hotel. Leave for Kandy and visit a Tea Plantation and Factory at Giragama en route. Check in at OZO Kandy for a stay in a Dream Room. In the evening you will visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and thereafter witness a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 03: KANDY
Breakfast at hotel. Enjoy a morning visit to the ruined temples of Embekka. The Embekka Temple dates from the 14th century is situated in the village "Arathtana". It is decorated by wooden columns richly carved with animals, dancers, and wrestlers. Embekka is unique, because it owns some of the greatest carvings in Sri Lanka. There are a total of eight buildings built for the temple of Embekka. Six buildings are in the inner temple, and two of them outside.

Continue on a city tour of Kandy. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings, and is a World Heritage Site.  Many of the legends, traditions and folklore surrounding Kandy are still lovingly kept alive.  Drive around the Kandy Lake built by the last Sinhala king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. Visit Kandy town and Bazaar, the arts & crafts centre and a gem museum and a lapidary. Return to Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Afternoon visit to the Dambulla Rock Temple. Climb up to the temple, which was donated by king Walagambahu in the 1st century BC to Buddhist monks. Dambulla is a World Heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. metres of painted walls and ceiling is the largest area of paintings found in the world. These caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 05:    DAMBULLA / SIGIRIYA / POLONNARUWA / DAMBULLA
Breakfast at Hotel. Proceed to Sigiriya  and climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa. The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200m from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway.

Next you will visit Polonnaruwa, which was the 2nd capital  city of Sri Lanka. Return to Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 06: DAMBULLA / AUKANA / ANURADHAPURA
Breakfast at Hotel. Leave for Anuradhapura and visit Aukana en route. Check in at Rajarata Hotel. Enjoy an afternoon visit to Anuradhapura -the first capital and undoubtedly the grandest city of ancient Sri Lanka - home to two World Heritage sites!

Many places of historical and archaeological interest can be visited here. At Brazen Palace (2nd century B.C), the 1600 stone columns you see are all that is left of a magnificent multi-storied residence for monks. Ruwanweliseya (2nd century B.C) is the most famous of all the Dagobas.  It originally depicted the perfect ‘bubble shape" that modern restoration has not been able to accurately reproduce. Samadhi' Buddha statue (4th century AD) is one of the most famous statues, depicting the Buddha in a state of 'Samadhi' or deep meditation.

Isurumuniya rock temple (3rd century B.C) is well known for its rock carvings of 'The Lovers'.  Kuttam Pokuna – twin ponds (6th century AD) was used by the Buddhist monks as a bathing pool.  Thuparama Dagoba (3rd century B.C) is the oldest Dagoba in the island, which enshrines the right collarbone of the Buddha. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 07: ANURADHAPURA / JAFFNA
Breakfast at Hotel. Transfer to Anuradhapura Railway Station for a Train Journey to Jaffna through the north province of Sri Lanka. On arrival at Jaffna Railway Station transfer to Hotel. Check in at Jetwing Jaffna for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 08: JAFFNA
Breakfast at Hotel. Proceed on a sightseeing tour of Jaffna, one of the oldest human settlements in the peninsular region of Northern Sri Lanka. Visit the Jaffna peninsula and the colourful offshore islands that surround it. Once the 2nd largest Sri Lankan city, it was also an important Portuguese colonial hold. The Dutch Fort that still dominates the Jaffna skyline is spread over an area of 22 hectares within the city limits. The star shaped Jaffna Fort built in 1680 by the Dutch is considered as the best example of Dutch fortifications in Asia.

Visit the Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil. This huge Hindu temple, crowned by a towering god-encrusted, golden-ochre gopuram, is one of the most significant Hindu religious complexes in Sri Lanka. Return to Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 09: JAFFNA / TRINCOMALEE
Breakfast at Hotel. Leave for Trincomalee, a major port city in Eastern Province. The city is built on a peninsula which divides the inner and outer harbours. Overlooking the Kottiyar Bay, Trincomalee is one of the main centres of Tamil speaking culture on the island. Check in at Chaaya Blu. Spend the rest of your day at leisure on the beach. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 10: TRINCOMALEE
Breakfast at Hotel. Leave on a sightseeing tour of Trincomalee and visit Thirukonamalai Konesar Temple. The monument contains its main shrine to Shiva in the form Kona-Eiswara, (shortened to Konesar) and is a major place for Hindu pilgrimage, labelled the "Rome of the Gentiles/Pagans of the Orient". Return to Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 11: TRINCOMALEE / PASIKUDHA
Breakfast at Hotel. Leave for Pasikudha via Seruwavila on the east coast. Check in at The Calm and spend rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the beach. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 12: PASIKUDHA / IGINIYAGALA / UDAWALAWE
Leave for Iginiyagala with a packed breakfast. Visit Gal Oya National Park which lies in the southeast of Sri Lanka and to the west of Ampara. Established in 1954 by the Gal Oya Development Board mainly to protect the catchment area of the 'Senanayake Samudra' Reservoir, and then handed over to the department of Wildlife Conservation in 1965. About 45% of the park is covered by evergreen forest and a further 33% is taken up by savanna areas. The 25,900 hectare park has about 32 species of mammals including common langur, endemic toque macaque, leopard, sloth bear, elephant, wild boar, water buffalo and 3 species of deer.

Proceed to Udawalawe and visit Magul Maha Viharaya en route. The history of Magul Maha Vihara possibly dates back to the period of King Kavantissa (205-161 BC) who ruled the Kingdom of Ruhuna in ancient Sri Lanka. There are evidence that suggests that the king has built this temple in the 2nd Century BC on the exact location where he married the princesses Viharamahadevi, the daughter of king Kelani Tissa. Check in at Grand Udawalawe for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 13: UDAWALAWE
Breakfast at Hotel. Morning visit Udawalawe National Park, established in 1972 to protect the catchment area of the Uda Walawe reservoir, crucial to the livelihoods of the farmers in the south east dry zone. Some 400-500 elephants live in the park and herds of up to 50 are commonly seen. As well as elephants, leopards live in the park (though you will be very lucky to spot one), toque monkeys, grey langur, spotted deer, wild pig and sambar. Return to Hotel. Your afternoon will be spent at an Elephant Transit Home, set up in 1995 as a pilot project by the Department of Wildlife Conservation to look after the abandoned baby elephants until they are able to take care of themselves. Return to Hotel for Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 14: UDAWALAWE / RATANAPURA / COLOMBO
