- Installation of protective equipment in attendance

- Definition of well-marked waiting areas, respecting the minimum distance of 2 meters

- Use of mask by staff and guests it’s mandatory

- Disinfectant and paper towels are provided for the employee and/or customer to disinfect the payment terminal, mobile phone, among others

São Miguel packs the best bits of the Azores into one enticingly volcanic bundle. The southern capital Ponta Delgada, is a graceful black-and-white affair, with mosaic cobbled streets meandering down to a marina lined with fish restaurants. When the fog peels back from Mirador do Rei lookout, the view of Sete Cidades is simply staggering.


Local lore has it that the twin crater lakes were formed by the tears shed by a pair of star-crossed lovers: a green-eyed princess and a blue-eyed shepherd. High on your itinerary, too, should be a dip in the pool at Caldeira Velha waterfall, a hike in the Lagoa de Fogo nature reserve and a visit to the time-warp that is Gorreana, Europe's only tea plantation, little-changed since it opened in 1883.

Entry Requirements 

You must ensure you have a valid passport to travel on. 

If your passport describes you as a British Citizen, you do not need a visa to enter Portugal. For non-British citizens, you should check the current entry requirements on the website of the Portugal Foreign Ministry.


Visit your health professional at least 8 weeks before your trip to check whether you need any vaccinations or other preventive measures. 

If you are travelling to the EU, the UK government recommends that you have six months left on your passport on the date of your arrival to an EU country. You should also check when your passport was renewed.

If you renewed a 10-year adult passport before it expired, extra months may have been added to your passport’s expiry date. Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Please note: Due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the UK Government is currently requesting that all travellers returning to the UK, (with exceptions), must provide their journey and contact details up to 48 hours before arrival, and self-isolate at home for 14 days. These restrictions will be reviewed every three weeks. The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) currently advises British nationals against all but essential international travel, and this advice is also being kept under constant review. The islands of the Azores and Madeira are currently exempt from this list and do not require quarantine upon return, however, guests staying on the islands will be required to provide the results of a negative PCR test on arrival that's less than 72 hours old. Mainland Portugal, however, requires 14 days of quarantine upon return from 4 am on Saturday 12th September 2020.
