Cultural activities in Marrakech
Jemaa El Fna Square
An almost-medieval universe awaits you. This famous square is a meeting place for merchants, hawkers and craftsmen, as well as fortune-tellers, snake charmers, herbalists and tooth pullers. The city's landmark, the splendid minaret of the Koutoubia mosque, is within sight.
The Koutoubia Mosque
Erected in the 12th century by Abdel Moumen of the Almohad dynasty, the Koutoubia is one of Marrakech's symbolic monuments. During your stay, you'll regularly catch glimpses of its 77-metre-high Hispano-Moorish-inspired minaret, the top of which is decorated with mosaics.
Marrakech Medina
Built around 1126 under the impetus of the Almoravid dynasty, the first medina did not withstand the fall of the regime and the main monuments disappeared until the next dynasty, the Almohads, rebuilt the architecture of a medina magnified by the Koutoubia Mosque.
Jardin Majorelle
This garden owes its name to the painter and plant collector Jacques Majorelle, who settled in Marrakech in 1923. Acquired in 1980 by Yves-Saint-Laurent, it has since been home to the Museum of Islamic Art. During your visit, you'll be amazed to discover such a profusion of plants and plant species.
