Your Destinations

Marrakech
This city, in southern Morocco, has been said to symbolise the country as a whole. As a vibrant and colourful centre for culture and entertainment, Marrakech is renowned for its wonderful climate, arts, gardens, ornate palaces, bustling souks (markets), and lively festivals. For those in search of the 'real' Morocco, this is the place to come. Nestling at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains, within ancient city walls, surrounded by look-out towers and ramparts, Marrakech comprises a densely packed maze of narrow streets and alleyways. Djemaa el-Fna Square lies at the heart of the city, and where the Berber tribespeople come to sell their wares, and storytellers, acrobats, and entertainers attract the crowds.

High Atlas Mountains
Also referred to as the 'Grand Atlases' this famous mountain range offers fantastic limestone river canyons, or wadis and is one of the most beautiful ranges in North Africa. The mountain range stretches approximately 1,600 miles across not only Morocco but also Algeria, and Tunisia. It is so vast that it does the job of separating the coastlines of the Mediterranean and Atlantic oceans from the Sahara Desert in Morocco.

Sahara Desert
Leave behind the madness and city chaos and escape over the rugged atlases into a wilder bit of Morocco - this is the famous dunes of the Sahara Desert. One of the absolute highlights of a trip to Morocco is seeing the vast Saharan sand dunes and camping under the stars. Places such as Merzouga and Erg Chegaga are increasingly popular with tourists and as far as solitude is concerned, it still has the upper hand over the rest of the country.

5 Nights

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech (Dinner Included)
Upon arrival, you will be met and greeted by a representative and transfered to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at the Palm Menara Hotel or Similar in Marrakech.

Day 2: Marrakech - Tizi n Tichka - Telouet - Ait Benhaddou (Breakfast and Dinner Included)
After breakfast, depart in the early morning from your riad/hotel in Marrakech and travel through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tichka Pass (2260 m) – the highest road pass in Morocco offering spectacular panoramic views of the mountains and valleys with a snaky road, beautiful landscapes with different colours and Berber villages along the way. After a panoramic stop here, continue to the Telouet Valley until you find yourself on the ancient Salt mines route, which used to bring much sought- after goods to the court of the Sultans. You will then reach the Anmiter Village, where you can visit the pasha's palace (Elglaoui), which dominates the Glaoua lands, a fortified citadel that is both a microcosm of an empire and its demise. The pacha had managed to overshadow the sultan by controlling most of today's Morocco and decided to erect his palace in the middle of nowhere, where his family had originated from. Enjoy free time for lunch here. Afterwards, you will take the way that leads to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, crossing the Ounila valley. Check in to your hotel. Later in the afternoon, visit the kasbah Ait Benhaddou, the postcard-like UNESCO adobe citadel. Ksar Ait Benhaddou has been used as a backdrop for many Hollywood blockbusters. It was one of the most important fortress strongholds on the old Salt Road caravan routes, where traders brought slaves, gold, ivory and salt from sub-Saharan Africa to Marrakech and beyond. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the Riad Tamdakhte or Similar.

Day 3: Ait Benhaddou - Zagora - M'hamid Elghizlane (Breakfast and Dinner Included)
After breakfast, meet your driver and head to Mhamid Lghizlane. Depart from Ait Benhaddou and head through the eastern Anti Atlas, along beautiful arid and rocky landscapes onto Tizi-n-Tinfifte Col. Upon arrival in Agdz, you will start on a green track, through an oasis and quaint, little villages. The tracks go along the right side of Draa Wadi, crossing over the palm grove, where you can see the crops of wheat and barley. Arriving in Zagora, you will visit the pottery workshops, the Tamegroute kiln and the Koranic library. Then, you will take the road to Tagounite, before arriving to Mhamid where the Draa valley and civilization end. Around 4 pm, you will start a nomadic life by riding a camel and travelling along the desert to one of the most fascinating sand dunes. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a Luxury tent in Erg Lihoudi.
Day 4: M'hamid Elghizlane - Agdz - Tamnougalt - Ouarzazate (Breakfast and Dinner Included)
Following an early morning stroll before breakfast to enjoy the sunrise among the sand dunes (optional), ride your camel back to Mhamid and meet your driver for the start of your return journey to Ouarzazate, along the Draa Valley and tansikht, where you can see the henna fields. Discover the hidden treasures of the Southern region and the road of 1000 kasbahs. Arriv to the Tamnougalt village and enjoy free time for lunch. The great Ksar Tamnougalt has been the capital of the Mezguita tribe for centuries and the seat of the Kaid represents the Sultan in the area. Successive Kaids built different Kasbahs, at first within and later outside the Ksar, and some of them are quite spectacular in their proportions and decoration, a fact that is unique in southern Morocco. Arrive in Ouarzazate and check-in to your hotel. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the Karam Palace Hotel or Similar.

Day 5: Ouarzazate - Marrakech (Breakfast and Lunch Included)
After a late breakfast, leave your hotel for a short orientation tour of Ouarzazate. Start with the panoramic photo of Taourirt Kasbah, the second residence of the old pacha of Marrakech «  Elglaoui » and an optional visit of the cinematographic centre or Moroccan Hollywood. Ouarzazate became famous when it’s nearby Kasbah, Ait Benhaddou, appeared in the 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia. Great movies have been shot in this area, such as Gladiator, The Mummy, Jesus of Nazareth, Babel, The Prince of Persia etc. Say goodbye to the desert of Morocco from its gate Ouarzazate, keeping the best memories of this country, and head back to Marrakech through Agelmous and Tichka. Enjoy a Berber lunch in the ait Ourir village on a restaurant terrace overlooking views of the river Zat. Arrive in Marrakech and check-in to your hotel. At the end of afternoon, enjoy free time for relaxing at your hotel or souvenir shopping in Marrakech's souks. Overnight stay at the Palm Menara Hotel or Similar.

Day 4: M'hamid Elghizlane - Tinfou - Nkob (Breakfast and Lunch Included)
Following an early morning stroll before breakfast to enjoy the sunrise among the sand dunes (optional), ride your camel back to Mhamid and meet your driver for the start of your return journey to N'kob along the Draa Valley and tansikht. Pass Zagora’s Dunes of Tinfo and visit the old Kasbah Ait Lkaid in the village of Tamegroute. At the end of the main road, you will find the famous road sign to Timbuktu that reads “52 jours” – 52 hours by camel. The Dunes of Tinfo (as well as many other sand dunes in Morocco) are famous for their healing qualities for rheumatoid arthritis. Ask your driver to bury you in the sand from head to toe for this a 20 minute spa-like experience. Visit Amzrou and walk the palmery and hamlet set amid lemon, almond and olive trees, and gardens of the local village. Visit the former Mellah (Jewish quarter). Amazrou is inhabited by Arabs, Haratines and Berbers who continue the Jewish tradition of silver making. Next, take the road to Ait Ouzzine and the Sahara Desert Village of N’kob. Aït Ouzzine is a Berber village inhabited by over 300 families who live in beautifully painted crenulated kasbahs, with their own henna fields, water wells, livestock and gardens. This peaceful village is tucked away along an impressive desert route connecting the Draa Valley (Tansikht) and Rissani. Meet a local Berber family, and partake in a cooking lesson of how to make traditional bread and a tajine. Explore this village with a short tour by foot. Walk in the green fields and see how the traditional Berbers live with their gardens of herbs, live stock, and henna plants. Lunch will be served to you here. The menu will include a traditional meal of fresh baked bread with spices and a chicken and vegetable tajine and fresh local fruits from desert. After lunch, you can have your hands and feet painted with henna or your hair adorned with saffron by a local village artist and relax. Experience the tradition of Berber perfume made from musk and amber along with the villages own spices. End the afternoon and arrive in N'kob. Enjoy an overnight stay in the charming boutique kasbah Ait Omar or Similar.

Day 5: N'kob - Tazarine - Rissani - Erfoud - Merzouga (Breakfast and Dinner Included)
After breakfast, take the road to Tazarine, a small town located 10 km from the oasis of Tamsahalte. On a platform just above the town, visit the beautiful panorama over the city with dozens of mosques and palm gardens. Take the road by piste to visit the Prehistoric rock art, Ait Waazik. After visiting Tazarine, take the road to Rissani, a Sahara desert town in the midle of Tafilalt region, the ancient Alawi Dynasty and Mohammed VI, the current King of Morocco originaly from here. Enjoy a photostop at the old Mausolem of Moulay Ali Sharif, the first King of the Alawi Dynasty. Next, visit The Touareg House and then the old Ksar of Rissani. Continue the road to Erfoud where you can explore a Museum of Fossils and see how fossils are made. Erfoud is a very active city. While maintaining its name as a modern Moroccan Sahara Desert town, it still preserves a certain authenticity of a true Arab city with an impressively “wild” market and gorgeous surrounding landscapes filled with oases, dunes and rocky mountains. Erfoud is a cinema hub for many movie directors. Some well known films had several scenes shot in Erfoud, including the Prince of Persia 2010 and March or Die 1977 by director Dick Richards. Arrive in Merzouga and visit the Erg Chebbi Sand Dunes before sunset. Ahmed and his Touareg family will share some of the Sahara Desert’s secrets. As you glide on these silent, mystical dunes, there will be countless opportunities to photograph the endless rolling desert. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the Dar Eljanoub Hotel or Similar.
Day 6: Merzouga - Tinerhir & Todra Gorge - Dades Valley - Ouarzazate (Breakfast & Dinner Included)
After breakfast, leave Merzouga's dunes for Todra Gorge and the Dades Valley to Ouarzazate. After 1.5 hours drive, visit the Todra Gorge, a canyon in the eastern part of the High Altas Mountains in Southern Morocco near the town of Tinerhir. Both the Todra and neighboring Dades rivers have carved out cliff-sided canyons. Local people and Nomads live in the area and can be seen with their small donkeys or herding camels and goats. The drive is scenic as thanks to the new roads built, you will drive past the small villages at the mouth of Todgha River. The Gorge extends from the village of Tamtatouche to Tinerhir, with cliffs rising dramatically up to 300 m on each side of a narrow corridor, making up some of the most impressive and highest cliffs in Morocco. The Gorge is concidred as a spectacle with its gigantic rock walls changing colour to create magical effects with the sunlight.  Continue to Boumalen Dades, a valley that boasts limestone cliffs with uniquely shaped erosions and superb scenery and the valley’s pise (windy roads). Driving along you will pass flower and vegetable fields, riverbanks and several fortified ksours. Enjoy free time for lunch here. After lunch, continue through the Valley of Roses. This perfumed Valley is located north of El Kelaa Des Mgouna, and in order to get there, you'll enjoy a pleasant journey, with Ouarzazate also en-route. Your driver will stop for you to view the  florale distillation factories laid out in the small kasbah town that manufacture the entire nations products of eau de rose. The harvest is understandably a labor of love and the culminating festivities of the annual Rose Festival are all the livelier for it. On the same the road to Ouarzazate, visit Skoura and its “Valley of One Thousand Kasbahs, a fertile oasis lined with immense palm groves that provide great views of the Atlas Mountains alongside deserted landscapes. The most beautiful kasbahs in southern Morocco can be found here. Many of them are still partially inhabited. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the Karam Palace Hotel or Similar.
