Lhaviyani Atoll —
Secluded and pristine, Lhaviyani Atoll is a northern Maldivian paradise where turquoise lagoons, vibrant coral reefs, and exclusive resorts create a haven for travellers seeking tranquillity, luxury, and adventure. Less frequented than the southern atolls, it offers both privacy and a wealth of natural beauty.
Must-sees / Must-do:
- The shipyard wrecks: Two sunken vessels covered in corals, perfect for diving or snorkelling, with one bow protruding above the water.
- Fushifaru corner & Kuredu express: Dive sites teeming with reef sharks, manta rays, and tropical fish.

Culinary culture:
Lhaviyani Atoll offers a mix of local and international cuisine at its resorts. Feast on fresh seafood, coconut-infused curries, and grilled reef fish. Don’t miss tasting mas huni, a traditional Maldivian breakfast of tuna, coconut, and onion served with roshi (flatbread).
Dive deeper:
Stay in an overwater villa or beachfront bungalow for ultimate immersion in the atoll’s natural beauty. Take guided snorkelling trips through hidden coral gardens, paddle through mangroves, or learn traditional Maldivian fishing from locals. At night, enjoy stargazing far from city lights.
Good to know:
Accessible by seaplane from Malé, Lhaviyani Atoll is perfect for both couples and families. The dry season ensures calm seas, ideal for diving and water sports. English is widely spoken in resorts, and the local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, though US dollars are accepted.
