Your Itinerary in Detail —
Day 1 - Greve in Chianti
Arrive at the airport (Florence or Pisa) and pick up the car hire (which is not included in the rate). We suggest stopping at Castle in Greve in Chianti. The origins of the Castle, date back roughly to 1400, built of solid stone whose focus is the high crenellated tower, preserved manor houses and boundary walls.
Then enjoy a wine tasting of Chianti Classico, served in the typical cellar located next to vineyards, with a panoramic terrace overlooking the valley of Greve. Then head out to explore Greve, which is considered the starting point of the Chianti region, for its strategic location midway between Florence and Siena. It’s a small and picturesque town, full of countryside vibes. Greve's square is still the focal point of the city, where a market takes place weekly on Saturdays.
Day 2 - Monteriggioni
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before kick-starting your day by visiting the medieval town of Monteriggioni, one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the country. Founded in the 13th century, it is located on a small hill, where this medieval town is enclosed by a nearly 600 m long wall. With the small, picturesque houses and narrow streets that characterise the city of Monteriggioni, you will be transported back in time.
Then visit the medieval town of San Gimignano, one of the most authentic and charming medieval towns in Tuscany, which features among the UNESCO sites. San Gimignano remains unchanged since the end of the 14th century. This might be the reason why it is one of the most visited places in Tuscany! Make the most of wine tasting of Vernaccia Wine on a typical farm in San Gimignano.
Day 3 - Chiusdino
Visit one of the most enchanting views in Tuscany! The San Galgano Abbey features an enormous church (without a roof!) and the Hermitage of Monte Siepi where the legend tells us that San Galgano retired around 1170 to live as a hermit. As a symbol of peace, he embedded his sword in a stone, which can still be seen today.
Day 4 - Montalcino
Drive to Montalcino, and discover this world-famous city thanks to its excellent wine "Brunello". Situated on a high tufa plateau, known for its wine "Vino Nobile of Montepulciano", why not go wine tasting to try it in an ancient cellar.
Day 5 - Siena
The medieval city of Siena is a work of art from the Gothic period. With its winding old town and narrow street, it seems as if the clocks have stopped for centuries. The historic centre is located on three hills forming a three-branch star and is famous for its Palazzo Pubblico and its Torre del Mangia (88 metres high). From here you have a wonderful view of the famous (and beautiful) Piazza del Campo.
On day 6, after breakfast at the hotel, it will be time to leave to the chosen airport!
