Your Destinations

Vienna

Transport yourself to the Imperial city of Vienna and be scooped up by its grandeur as you walk through its majestic streets. This is the City of Music and has been home to Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Beethoven and Johann Strauss (both father and son) to name but a few; there could be no better place to watch a jaw-dropping classical music performance than in the lavish Staatsoper.

Melk/Durnstein

Delve into the heart of the Wachau wine region where you will find Dürnstein which is known for its baroque blue Stiftskirche. A particular highlight is Melk's magnificent 11th century Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe's largest monasteries. The Abbey houses an ornate library with over 80,000 printed books and 2,000 manuscripts. Words can not describe the splendour of the church with its frescoed ceilings, stunning altar and marble statues.

Budapest

Budapest is exquisitely situated on both sides of the Danube with Buda and Pest, claiming one of the most spectacular panoramic views in Europe. Budapest’s Castle District abounds in great attractions. The Royal Palace is situated on the southern part of Castle Hill. Today it is home to important cultural institutions and museums such as the Hungarian National Gallery, the Ludwig Museum (Museum of Contemporary Art) and the Budapest Historical Museum.

It is also worth visiting the Fishermen’s Bastion that was built in 1905. From its top, you'll find the best panoramic views of Budapest. Finally, you must pay a visit to the neo-gothic style Matthias Church, which was rebuilt by Frigyes Schulek at the turn of the century.

Esztergom

As you only have one day in Esztergom, a trip to the city's basilica is an absolute must as it provides an incredible view of the surrounding countryside and the Danube that cuts through it. This picturesque town is packed with historic attractions and cute cafes.

Bratislava

This historic place - which borders Austria and Hungary - makes for the perfect destination for keen hikers and walkers, with its many mountainous national parks set along the north bank of the famous Danube river and its pedestrianised old town. Bratislava is also renowned for its impressive, charming and colourful little streets, baroque churches, authentic shops, and old town atmosphere.

The city also boasts a wealth of cobbled squares and museums where you will be able to discover its rich history full of Austrian, Hungarian and Czech influences. Bratislava is a must-see destination for history and culture lovers.

Day 1: Vienna
Board the MS Crucestar cruise at the river port after 16:00 (Nussdorf region). Accommodation in the cabins and overnight stay.

Day 2: Vienna
After breakfast, guests may choose to embark on an optional panoramic tour of the most important sights of the Austrian capital: the Opera House, the Town Hall, the Parliament, the Burgtheater and the magnificent imperial Hofburg Palace. In the afternoon, enjoy the city at your own pace or join a new optional excursion to Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the Imperial House of Austria, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At night, the ship will leave the Austrian capital to take the direction of Melk. Overnight stay on board.

Day 3: Melk / Durnstein
Today you will reach Melk, a small town in the heart of the impressive Wachau Valley. It is known worldwide for the Benedictine abbey located at the top of a rock overlooking the river. At noon, the boat heads to Dürnstein where you will arrive after lunch. Dürnstein is a charming village in the heart of the winding Wachau valley with a medieval castle. From the pier, you can walk directly to the historic centre of the city, passing through the medieval gates of the city and reaching Pranger Square. From there, a beautiful view opens onto the ruins of the castle, famous for being the place where would have been imprisoned Ricardo Corazon de Leon. In the afternoon, enjoy the scenery offered by the beautiful Wachau Valley as you sail to Budapest. Overnight stay on board.
At dinner time the cruise will arrive in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Enjoy a walk in the city at night before an overnight stay on board.

Day 5: Budapest
The mighty Danube divides Budapest into two parts: the traditional "Buda" and the cosmopolitan "Pest". Optional guided tour of the main sites of the Hungarian capital: the Parliament, the Opera House, the Heroes Square, the market, the Chain Bridge and the Fishermen's Bastion with spectacular views of the city. Enjoy a night on board. Please note that between 23:00 and 01:00, the ship will perform maneuvers. Departure for Esztergom at 04:00.

Day 6: Esztergom
Early in the morning the cruise will arrive at Esztergom, the old Hungarian capital. It is a small town of 28,000 inhabitants about 45 kilometres from Budapest. It is famous for hosting the largest basilica in the country (larger than San Esteban, in the capital), 118 meters high and 49 meters wide, whose construction lasted 47 years. It opened in 1869. It is currently the seat of the Catholic Church in Hungary. Esztergom was the capital of Hungary between the 10th and 13th century, before passing to Buda. At the beginning of the afternoon, the ship embarks for Bratislava. Overnight stay on board.
An optional guided tour will offer you a tour of this imperial city. You will see, among other fascinating places, the National Theater, the Cathedral of San Martín, the Puerta de Miguel, the old Town Hall and the impressive fortress at the top of a rock. In the afternoon, we sail to Vienna. At night, the captain's dinner. Overnight stay on board.

After breakfast, you will arrive into the port and conclude your cruise experience.

You can renew your passport online or by going to a Post Office with a Check and Send service: https://www.gov.uk/renew-adult-passport/renew

If your passport does not meet the criteria for third-country nationals, you may be denied entry to any of the Schengen area countries.
