To get a taste of local life on the island, Pyrgos is a small village just 8 km from Fira, which is filled with authentic eateries and traditional Greek charm.
If you have the time, it’s also worth exploring the landscape of this unique island. The hike from Fira to Oia will take a few hours but provides the best views of the caldera and the unique geography of Santorini. History lovers might also wish to visit the Akrotiri Archaeological Site, where the unearthed remains of an ancient Minoan town are preserved.
