Your Destination

The ancient city of Hanoi (founded in 1010) has it all. It is the capital of Vietnam and is famed for its ancient architecture, boasting a very diverse culture with injections of influences from Asia, China and France. At the centre of Hanoi is the bustling Old Quarter, where the narrow thoroughfares are divided into trades. A visit here is not complete without a trip to the Dong Xuan market where the world famous street food must be sampled.

By contrast, Ho Chi Minh City is famous around the world for its key role in the Vietnam war. Otherwise known as Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City is in the south of Vietnam and has amazingly well preserved French colonial architecture, which is a key pull for visitors on Vietnamese tours. Must-sees included the Notre Dame Basilica, which was constructed entirely from materials imported from France, and Saigon’s central post office. Like Hanoi, travellers must sample Vietnamese cuisine on the excellent food stalls in the bustling Ben Thanh Market.

Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Ho Chi Minh City - Arrival

Upon arrival at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in the city centre. From here, you can enjoy free time, allowing you to relax after a long trip.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 2 - Ho Chi Minh - Ben Tre - Ho Chi Minh

Following a tasty breakfast, you will depart to the Mekong Delta. You will arrive at the port of Hung Vuong (village of Ben Tre) after a two and a half hour drive. You will then embark on a boat trip on the river Ben Tre, one of the tributaries of the Mekong River, where you'll discover the commercial and artisanal activities that are carried out there. Enjoy a traditional visit to a handmade brick factory, where printing and baking is completed according to a traditional technique. Visit coconut processing workshops located along the canal, as well as a family making mats - you'll even get the chance to share a fruit tasting with them! You will then depart either by bike or tuk-tuk along the region's rice fields and vegetable gardens, giving you an insight into traditional working life in Vietnam.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will take a rowing boat along the stream to Hung Vương port, before driving back to Ho Chi Minh.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh

Day 3 - Ho Chi Minh - Da Nang - Hoi An

After breakfast, you will visit the city's Reunification Palace and the impressive Notre Dame Cathedral, the colonial districts and the Ben Thanh Market. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant

In the afternoon, you can visit Cho Lon Chinatown, the charming Thien Hau Pagoda, or the city's War Museum!

Following your day in Ho Chi Minh, you will be transferred to the airport for a domestic flight to Da Nang. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Hoi An.

Day 4 - Hoi An

After breakfast, you'll have the chance to discover Hoi An! This town was once home to Annam's main trading port during the 17th and 18th centuries. Today it is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site - we recommend hiking around the city and its wonderful harbour. Follow the narrow streets, lined with houses showcasing Chinese, Japanese, French and European architecture and visit the many sights: the 400-year-old Japanese Bridge, the Phuc Kien Meeting Room, and the local fish market. In Hoi An, you will be able to see art galleries, tailors' shops, and craftsmanship galore. Your tour will continue with a visit to the house of a craftsman in the old district. Here you will have a brief introduction to the history and origin of the shape and colours of the city's lanterns.

Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, take a bike ride to the vegetable fields of Tra Que or pay a visit to the village of Cam Thanh where you can admire local life.

In the afternoon, you will embark on a boat cruise of the Perfume river, before stopping in front of the old quay and the local Bao Vinh market. You will then return to the boat and continue on to the Thien Mu Pagoda. Known as "The Lady Celestial", the pagoda is built on the edge of the Perfume River and is recognisable from afar thanks to its octagonal tower. According to legend, here, a celestial lady dressed in red appeared and asked the lord of the place to build a pagoda to control the underground forces and dominate the area.

Here you'll see ancient houses: the largest dating back over 200 years and the oldest dating back more than 400 years.

In the afternoon, you can visit the Mia Pagoda (one of the most beautiful pagodas in Vietnam), built in the 15th century. You'll also be able to admire 287 statues of all sizes, in which famous sculptures of Buddha in the Himalayas and the Eight Vajra deities are depicted.
