Optional Excursions —
Morning: The day starts with visit to the complex dedicated to Ho Chi Minh - the nation’s founder, containing Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (viewed from outside on Mondays, Fridays and afternoons due to closure), and the house on stilts, One Pillar Pagoda. Next up visit Tran Quoc Pagoda- Hanoi’s oldest pagoda on the bank of West Lake.
Afternoon: visit Temple of Literature - Vietnam’s first university which was constructed in 11th century. Later on we walk around the Old Streets which were named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places. Stop at Hoan Kiem Lake to learn about legend of the lake and visit Ngoc Son Temple, followed by the Water Puppet show - a uniquely Northern Vietnamese art form depicting scenes from rural life and episodes of national history.
INCLUDING: Private transfer in a 4-seat car, local English speaking guide, entrance fee, Water Puppet Show, 2 bottles of mineral waters and 2 wet wipes per person
8:00AM: Pick up from your hotel and drive 35km to Hoi An. Gather at the Hai Scout Café in Hoi An’s old streets to meet the chef. Visit a local market to buy the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later. Board a boat for a leisurely cruise along the Thu Bon River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. On arrival, explore the school’s herb and vegetable garden, before learning about some of Hoi An and Vietnam’s well-known dishes, which are a mix of Vietnamese and Chinese cuisines.
The cooking lesson lasts about 2 hours– each dish is first demonstrated by the Red Bridge’s chef before you prepare the same dish by yourself. The class also contains a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carvings (plate decoration). After the lesson, we sit down and taste what we have cooked. Then the boat will take you back to Hoi An town. Pick up by our driver there back to your hotel. Arrive at your hotel at around 14:00.
INCLUDING: Private 7-seat car for 1-2pax and a minivan of 16 seats for 3-6 pax, joint cooking class, 1 lunch at the cooking class and 1 bottle of mineral water per person
