Prints by Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto adorn the library, displaying the range of tones and effects for which his work is known. The English artist and fashion designer Holly Fowler hand-painted two murals on silk. Finally, hanging from the lobby’s 15-foot ceiling is a mobile by famed American sculptor Alexander Calder.
The pared back “New Nordic” style begins in the lobby with its polished concrete floor and bleached oak panelling but its world-class art is likely to garner most attention, including a striking mural on the hotel’s outer south wall by a local arts collective mentored by Jeff Koons.
