The Chelsea Flower Show —
Chelsea is synonymous with the world’s most famous flower show, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Every year the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea are transformed into show gardens, inspirational small gardens and vibrant horticultural displays. Around the same time local businesses get into the festival spirit by decorating their windows for Chelsea in Bloom.
For five days in May, the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea will be transformed into the world’s greatest flower show.
Some of the show-stopping displays include:
Photographic exhibits and a floral arch to celebrate the 90th birthday of the RHS patron, HM the Queen.
A 60-foot carriage from Belmond British Pullman, which will form part of the 6,000sq ft planted-up station in the Great Pavilion.
The RHS Garden for Health, Happiness and Horticulture designed by Ann-Marie Powell, and the Modern Apothecary Garden designed by RHS Ambassador Jekka McVicar.
The memorable poppies tribute by Phillip Johnson at the entrance to the show.
Horticultural showman Diarmuid Gavin is back with The British Eccentrics Garden featuring bizarre garden gadgetry that comes to life every 15 minutes.
An acoustic garden inspired by world-leading percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie will play musical notes to visitors.
Horticultural inspiration from around the world, including Jordan, the Netherlands, Cambodia, Japan, Chile, Australia and more.

Chelsea is a great spot for blue plaque hunting, with famous former residents ranging from George Eliot’s last home at 4 Cheyne Walk, to Alfred Hitchcock’s family home and second studio at 153 Cromwell Road. Other famous residents include James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Isambard Kingdom Brunel and Sylvia Pankhurst.

Canary Wharf station is only a short walk from the hotel. If you take the Jubilee line, please alight at Canary Wharf underground station, head southwest and turn right towards S Colonnade. After 177 feet, turn left towards S Colonnade and turn left again onto S Colonnade after 0.1 mile. At Westferry Circus, take the third exit and take the stairs to Canary Wharf Pier. From Canary Wharf Pier, we operate a complimentary two-minute ferry ride directly to the hotel.
When taking the DLR, please alight at Canary Wharf DLR Station and head west on S Colonnade. After 285 feet, continue straight onto Cabot Square and turn slightly left after 331 feet onto West India Ave. After 0.1 mile, take the third exit and take the stairs to Canary Wharf Pier. From Canary Wharf Pier, the hotel offers a complimentary two-minute ferry ride directly to the hotel.
