Your Destination —
From the cloud-covered peak, lush slopes fall to coral sand beaches below. It is the perfect place if you seek natural beauty and an unhurried atmosphere. There are plenty activities on land which include visiting the historic Charlestown, the New River Plantation, the rain forest & ruins, the Sugar Trail and Heritage Highway. The knowledgeable hotel staff are happy to point out some beautiful countryside walks for you to follow, or, if a little adventure beckons a local guide will be happy to take you through the rainforest and to the top of the mountain.
If you are feeling a little more adventurous you can rent a jeep and set out with a picnic basket to explore the rest of the coastline. Discover quiet beaches that are practically deserted, like the dramatic and windswept Atlantic beach known as Indian Castle, last home to the Carib and Arawak Indians. Their pottery and shards still remain buried in the sand.
Swimming in the turquoise waters of Herbert's beach is a revitalising experience, whilst Lover's beach is great for romantics, and watching the sunset at Paradise beach is, well... paradise!
Your Hotel —
Staying at The Hermitage offers a unique Caribbean experience. This small, charming hotel is converted from a traditional plantation and retains many original features and antique furnishings.
It is a world apart from the larger modern resorts which the Caribbean islands are now inundated with. This is authentic, intimate and relaxed.
This boutique family run hotel takes a personal interest in hospitality, and they receive consistently great reviews for the truly welcoming atmosphere - the owners and staff becoming friends rather than simply hosts.
With just 15 rooms, daily afternoon rum punch or tea served in the gardens and home style delicious cooking, this really will be your home away from home.

Your Cottage —
This offer is based on a Luxury Cottage Room.
Uniquely decorated with period antiques and four poster canopy beds, these rooms offer refrigerators and facilities to make a cup of tea or a coffee.
All of the rooms are designed to take advantage of the natural air flow and fresh mountain breeze, so do not have air conditioning.
Your Board Basis —
This offer is based on a bed and breakfast stay.
Just for you: two complimentary dinner nights (10 & 14 night stays only).
Everything at the the Hermitage is authentic and fresh - the cooks come from the nearby villages, the herbs and spices come from the garden, local farmers bring their produce directly to the hotel, and the fish is also delivered, dripping wet, fresh from the sea. The ladies in the kitchen take great pride in their talent and have created a few dishes that are known on Nevis as Hermitage specialties.
The food is distinctly home-cooking, maximising local ingredients and local techniques. They are the only kitchen on the island that makes use of a traditional wood burning oven. The smell of roasts, simmering sauces and sautés waft out of the kitchen.
Breakfast
The day starts with Full Planters Breakfast from 08:00 to 10:30 on the verandah. A few things to know, the yogurt is homemade, the sausage is local, the West Indian omelette is spicy, and the french toast is internationally recognised.
Lunch
Lunch is served from noon to 14:30 on the verandah or poolside. Grilled chicken or fish, pasta and shrimp and fresh salad. If you are looking for something local, try the roti, a homemade wrap stuffed with curry.
Afternoon Tea
Served in the Great Room or one of the side porches. English teas or the own local bush teas, each with their own restorative effect. The Hermitage carrot cake alone is worth a trip.
Your Time —
On site there is an excellent hard tennis court with complimentary rackets and balls, as well as nature walks and history hikes (the ancient "Heritage Highway" or "Upper Round Road" passes right through The Hermitage). Trailriding on horseback (escorted) is also available nearby.
For the child in everyone there is the farmyard with the plantation's pigs, sheep, ducks, peacocks, chickens and horses of all ages, shapes and sizes.
Or perhaps enjoy the many adventures at sea which include deep sea fishing, snorkelling or scuba diving.
