This is a culturally rich and environmentally diverse country, with nine World Heritage Sites (the oldest dating back to the 3rd Century BC); 86 species of mammals (including elephant and leopard) and more than 400 bird species (including 26 endemics); a colorful array of flowering plants and trees, and a Hill Country famous for tea; 14 National Parks out of 100 areas protected by the government; and an Indian Ocean coastline boasting palm-fringed and sandy tropical beaches.

Day 1: Arrival in Sri Lanka
Upon arrival in Colombo, you will be transferred to your hotel for your overnight stay (approx. travel time: 45 minutes - 1 hour).

Overnight at OZO Colombo with breakfast included.

Day 2: Colombo - Udawalawe
After breakfast, check-out of your hotel and proceed to Udawalawe (approx. travel time: 3 - 4 hours). Upon arrival you can check into your hotel before embarking on a safari through the Udawalawe National Park, this 30,821 hectares is famed for its abundant elephant herds (almost 400 in total). During a visit, it is not unusual to see whole herds of adults and young elephants feeding or bathing and playing in the water. In addition to this main attraction, the park is home to many water buffalo, water monitor lizards, sambar deer, monkeys and the occasional leopard, as well as being an exciting location for bird enthusiasts.

Overnight at Grand Udawalawe Safari Resort with breakfast included.
