Your Itinerary —
Fly from the UK direct to Tromso and transfer by Flybus to and check in at the Hotel Edge or similar. The city has a plethora of restaurants & bars dishing up everything from simple local grub to Rick Stein like restaurants.
After breakfast you’ll have the better part of the day to take in the city dubbed ‘The Paris of the North’ or enjoy an optional morning safari. In the late afternoon embark (at 16.15) for Finnsnes sailing alongside the exquisitely indented Fjord coastline.
Disembark at the boat terminal and transfer through beautiful scenery of Senja Island and check in your apartment room at Mefjord Brygge. The dinner will be served in the maritime-style restaurant. Time to relax or go for a small walk in the evening.
After breakfast meet your local guide who will plan out the next two days having regard for both actual and forecast weather conditions. In daylight you will off for a boat/bus fjord safari to spot whales, sea eagles and wildlife. Lunch en-route or upon return to Mefjordvær.
Some time to relax in the afternoon. Traditional Norwegian dinner served in early evening before a Northern Lights search. Your guide will take you to remote spots to see the Northern Lights visiting scenic vantage points where it is possible to admire Aurora Borealis without light pollution.
After breakfast your guide will have a different plan from the previous day, depending on the weather: more whales, wildlife a bus/boat safari, some easy snow-shoeing. In case of bad weather there is always a contingency plan. Lunch en route or upon return to Mefjordvær. You will be surprised how different Senja looks depending on time of the day and weather conditions.
Traditional Norwegian dinner in Melford Brygge’s restaurant and then set off for some more night time exploration (walking or by minibus). Spot the Northern Lights again, listen to your guide’s local tales (tall and otherwise) with plenty of photo opportunities along the way. Finish off the day by relaxing in the sauna.
Important: Whale sightings & Northern Lights are based on natural and weather conditions. There is no guarantee of sightings.

Your Hotels —

On the edge of the harbour, with an edgy design and (probably) on the edge of displacing the Ishavshotel as the luxiest hotel in Tromso (enough puns), the Edge is the place for some serious TLC after the rigours of the day.
The upper level rooms have brilliant views out to the ocean or the mountains, are a good 24sqm with stylish charcoal grey, arctic blue, aurora green or fire red fabrics and furnishings.
Perfectly located for airport transfer & safaris pick up/drop off point and Storgata if you want some retail therapy at any point. Clients rave about the breakfast: the local produce used the menu and the chef staffed waffle station are fantastic!
Senja Mefjordvær is a picturesque fishing village surrounded by vertiginous snow topped mountains on one of the most fish abundant fjords on the island of Senja with Mefjord Brygge as its showpiece.
The cabin apartments each with their own terrace overlooking the fjord have a living room with cable TV and WI-FI, separate bedroom and a large airy bathroom with WC/Shower. The adjacent fisherman’s themed restaurant serves up locally caught halibut & cod filet, haddock fishcakes and a sort of Norwegian bouillabaisse along with some 'to die for' desserts.
Some services may incur additional charges, payable locally.
