This tour will take you to Alta - the municipal capital of Norway's northernmost county Finnmark that lies next to beautiful Alta Fjord. This charming town has a quieter than popular Tromso, offering visitors a really authentic Norwegian experience. The world's first Northern Light observatory was built here at the end of the 19th century and has earned Alta the name "The Town of the Northern Lights."
Your Itinerary —
Day 1 - Arrival in Oslo
Arrival in Oslo according to your flight itinerary and transfer (not included) to the city centre.
Surrounded by mountains and the sea, Oslo is Europe's fastest-growing capital, with a palpable sense of reinvention ! Its remarkable Opera and the new “Bar code” have redesigned the city’s architectural signature. However, nature is everywhere and you are never far from the forest, the fjord or even cross country ski slopes.

Day 2 - Oslo
Scandinavian breakfast at your hotel.
Discover Oslo at leisure. This city offers many well known sights such as Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking ship museum, Holmenkollen ski jump or the Munch museum.

Day 3 - Departure to Alta
Scandinavia breakfast at your hotel.
Transfer to Oslo airport (not included) and flight to Alta (included.)
Arrival and transfer (not included) to the city centre.
Alta is a city in Norway, in the Finmark county, by the Altafjord. Located above the arctic circle, the polar nights are long and offer ideal conditions to observe the beautiful northern lights. It will be the perfect basecamp to escape your daily life and get an experience as a Lapland native over a long weekend.

Day 4 - Dogsledding
Scandinavian breakfast at your hotel.
In the morning, you will follow the path of the Nordic mushers and go on a dogsledding adventure. Transfer included from the Scandic Alta in the city-center to a husky farm just outside of town, where you will meet the dogs !
Your journey will bring you across forests and along the Alta river. You can decide to either drive or sit in the sled and alternate during the 15 km long trip (40min to 60min).
Transfer back to the city cente of Alta.
You will have your afternoon at leisure to discover Alta. We recommend visiting the Cathedral with its northern light inspired shape and the Alta museum. It offers a large panorama of the local culture and of the traditional industries in the area that are highly connected to the Sami people and fishermen.

Day 5 - Snowmobile Safari and night at the Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel

First part of the morning at leisure. We recommend having some lunch before the activity.
11h00 - Departure in a minibus (transfer included) to Sørrisniva Igloo hotel, the departure point of your snowmobile safari across the wild and beautiful landscapes of Finnmark .
The first part of the trip follows a road but, you will quickly head towards untouched nature in one of Europe’s wildest area. You will be back at Sørrisniva at 14h00.
For the afternoon, enjoy the warm common areas and living room of Sørrisniva. You are welcome to visit the ice hotel. All the rooms are unique and decorated by local artists. Don’t miss the ice chapel and the ice bar ! If you wish, you can borrow snowshoes for free (according to availability) at the reception, for a walk in the surroundings.
In the late afternoon, a table has been reserved for you at the restaurant. You will enjoy a fantastic 2 course dinner, prepared with local products. You will access your room after the dinner.
The rooms are made of ice but you will have no problem falling asleep under a temperature of -5°C thanks to your thermal sleeping bags. The beds are made of snow and ice with reindeers' skins to isolate the cold.
We advise bringing woollen underwear.

Day 6 - Departure

Transfer in a minibus from the igloo hotel to the airport at set departure times.

The recently refurbished Thon Hotel Terminus is situated in the very heart of downtown Oslo, just 200 metres from to Karl Johans gate and 1.5 km from the Royal Palace. Many of the best restaurants, shopping, and nightlife is within an easy stroll.

This amazing hotel is built entirely of snow and ice, and thus has to be rebuilt very year, as soon as the first snow falls.
It is Norway’s largest and the world’s northernmost ice hotel. This year, its 16th, the doors will open on the 6th January 2016.
There are just 30 rooms, an ice lounge and bar, a themed sculpture gallery and an exquisitely decorated chapel.
The temperature inside the igloo remains constant (between ˉ4°c and ˉ7°c) but the cosy reindeer hides, mattresses and sleeping bags will keep you warm throughout the night –although it is still recommended you wear thermals to bed!
