Your Destinations —
Exhilarating, colourful and fun, Bangkok is a city that leaves you wanting more. Discover a city of sparkling palaces and gleaming temples where visitors rub shoulders with saffron-robed monks. Hold onto your hat as you sweep along the river in a long-tailed boat admiring riverside architecture and observing everyday life for families living in stilt houses.
Hunt for bargains in the street markets where the vendors are disappointed if you won’t enter into some friendly haggling over price. Escape the noise and heat of the streets by browsing the designer shops in the dazzling, air-conditioned shopping malls.
In the late afternoon meander through the open space of Lumphini Park and watch the locals at play and then get a good view of the city, as the sun goes down, from high up in one of the many rooftop bars. Finally board a converted rice barge for a delicious Thai dinner cruise.
Thailand is one of the most beautiful and culturally diverse countries in South-East Asia. The River Kwai, just a few hours from Bangkok, is rich with magnificent scenery, flora and bird life. It is the most picturesque of rivers, the scene and mood constantly changing.
There are two river Kwais: the Kwai Noi, which you will explore, and the Kwai Yai. Both rivers flow down from great lakes in the mountainous Burma border region. The two Kwais join in a confluence at the attractive town Kanchanaburi. They then form the Mae Khlong River that flows into the Gulf of Thailand at the bustling, colourful fishing port of Samut Songkhram.
Going upstream, the river journey begins at the town of Kanchanaburi, 124 km west of Bangkok, famous for its main attraction, the Bridge on the River Kwai.
Cha Am is a famous seaside resort located 170km south from Bangkok appreciated for its quiet, laidback atmosphere and its 5km long beach. Chow down on some inexpensive seafood on the fishing pier so you can truly indulge your taste buds. Freshly caught crabs, shrimps and squid are a particular culinary highlight of this place, make sure to enjoy it with a cool drink from one of the many restaurants dotted along the beach.
