Selous Game Reserve
This must be the largest unspoilt game reserve in Africa. Immense, remote and wild, no human habitation is allowed within its boundaries, apart from within camps and lodges. Today it boasts some of Africa’s finest virgin bush, unchanged through centuries and inhabited by three quarters of a million wild animals.
The river systems and gorges are fascinating, as are the swamps, woodlands and savannahs, all home to hippo, crocodile, elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, giraffe, waterbuck, baboon, leopards, lion, wild dog, eland, sable and roan, to mention just a few of the species. The bird-life is also extremely rich. The reality is that this park is so vast it is impossible to count its game.
Game drives are by open four-wheel drive vehicle, perfect for traversing the rugged terrain, or by boat, a more peaceful alternative and something which sets this reserve apart from the others. Another unique aspect to this is that it's so much quieter than the majority of the rest of the country. Still, it will be teeming with wildlife, and you will have the opportunity to get incredibly close to the natural eco-system. You will also be in the hands of informative and welcoming guides, open to answering all of your questions and dedicated to keeping you safe.

Day 01
Meet and greet at Dar airport and connect with scheduled flight to the Selous (flight booked by Ranger Safaris). Upon arrival, you are met by the camp/lodge’s vehicle and transferred to the camp/lodge. Lunch and afternoon shared activity – game drive, walking safari or boat ride on the Rufiji River. Return to the camp for dinner
Overnight Selous Riverside Camp on full board basis including shared activities (excluding drinks)
Day 02
Choice of morning and afternoon shared activities as provided by the camp / lodge – game drives, walking safari or boat ride on the Rufiji River.

Day 03
Morning transfer to Mtemere Airstrip for flight to Dar (booked by Ranger Safaris). On arrival, meet and greet followed by road transfer to your beach hotel.

Road transfer to Dar airport for your International flight.

Your Accommodation —
Selous Riverside Safari Camp consists of ten spacious luxury tented camps, out of which five tents offer 4 x 6 twin beds and the other five tents offer 6 x 6 single beds all with en-suite facilities, decorated beautifully in African style.
The standard tents are a great source of relaxation. You will be pampered by crisp white linen, en-suite bathrooms, and of course your own relaxing veranda area offering a commanding view of the Rufiji River. All beds are fitted with mosquito nets, and all windows covered with mosquito netting ensures your protection against insects, and at the same time providing you with excellent ventilation.
The reception area has a dining area that offers safari chairs and comfortable, large chairs for the sitting area. You can also relax on the decking area overlooking the beautiful Rufiji River or refresh yourself in the pool located on the deck.

The flights included are subject to live availability and prices can change. You can choose your preferred departure times during the booking process. Please select your flight options carefully as departure and arrival airports may differ.
Please note: Internal flights from Dar es Salaam to Selous (return) have a 15kg per person restriction for luggage allowance. This is regardless of the luggage allowance you are permitted for your international flights. Luggage must be packed in soft sided bags. Any excess baggage will be charged by the airline at check-in. Another seat may need to be purchased to cover the additional baggage (which will provide an additional 80kg allowance). The cost of this is approximately $400 USD for the return journey. Please note that there is no guarantee that the airline will have the additional space/seats to accommodate extra luggage so to avoid any disruption to your holiday/flight, we strongly recommend that you adhere to the 15kg per person restriction.
