Your Itinerary

Day 1:  Arrival in Marrakech Menara Airport.
Meet our airport assistance on exit from the airport terminal & private transfer to the Riad Andalous.

Day 2:  Marrakech – Asni – Kik Plateau & Takerkoust Lake (B&L)
After breakfast – today will be an exceptional tour to the High Atlas plateaux and Lake Takerkoust – 70Km from Marrakech. First, the tarmac road to leave the Marrakech plains. Tiny villages, olive plantations & green vegetation lead to the Ghighaya Valley. Remarkable green lands – to discover the picturesque Berber village of Sidi Fares – surrounded by olive, fig, walnut trees, quince, prune, apple & almond plantations. At an altitude of 1800M, the view is absolutely splendid – and in the Winter months the snow-capped backdrop of the Atlas summits. Descend towards the Asni Valley & the town of Moulay Brahim, continuing along the Kik Plateau, dominated by the High Atlas chain. With a magnificent panorama of the Mount Toubkal massif, the Kik Plateau is situated overlooking Asni, the Lalla Takerkounst dam in its centre.  This area will open the door to you to the precarious conditions in which the Moroccan farming community live in the region. A refreshment stop ‘Chez Omar’ & his family who, with great care & delicatessen, will share their traditional mint tea preparation ceremony. On to the great dame – Lake Lalla Takerkounst - & the nautical base of Jet Atlas. This is a haven to relax in natural surroundings, to ramble or try the water sports. Your sun lounger & parasol will be waiting for you, the Jet Atlas team anxious to welcome you and propose some of their activities such as water pedalo, rowing, jet ski, wakeboard or fly board – whereas any quad bike experts will be guaranteed an incredible tour around the lake. A traditional lunch is included – near the infinity pool. A day by the Lalla Takerkoust Lake – promises exile from the hustle & bustle of Marrakech & its stifling summer heat. To relax, to lunch in the sun or take advantage of the great sporting activities in total tranquillity – this is the perfect spot – difficult to equal.

Return to Marrakech late afternoon & overnight in the Riad Andalou.
Day 3:  Marrakech – Imi N’Ifri – Lake Bin El Ouidane – Ouzoud  (B&D)
Breakfast in the riad & at 08h30 leave Marrakech to the famous Ouzoud waterfalls & the Bin El Ouidane Lake. Your driver, extremely well qualified, will take you to discover the magic of the Atlas, passing by the Al Haouz plains & Tanante hills. First stop will be at a natural bridge in Imi N’Ifri – its panoramic view over the Tisslit Valley (which means in Berber ‘the Bride’). A natural arch serves as a bridge over Assif Tisslit. Thanks to its landscape, this site is a geomorphological curiosity, unique to Morocco, where many birds find refuge. Then, a relaxing moment by a lake, in the central Atlas, between the river El Abid & the Assif Ahanesal, where crystal waters reflect Nature’s beauty.  Bin El Ouidane – these three words literally signify ‘between the rivers’… take your time to savour a tasty lunch, the region’s speciality. Continue to the famous Ouzoud waterfalls; maybe mingle with the Magot monkeys, amidst the olive plantations. There is nothing like a stroll to find at your own time the waterfalls. Just before commencing the stairs, you’ll have your first glimpse of the waterfalls, finding yourself before a splendid panoramic view & this is the spot for that special photo to share with your friends & family.

Tonight, dinner and overnight will be at the Riad Cascades of Ouzoud.
Day 4:  Ouzoud - Benimellal – aioun Oum rabia – Azrou – Ifrane  (B&D)
Breakfast at the hotel.  Leave Ouzoud for a journey towards Beni Mellal,  Azrou and Ifrane, and drive through pleasant landscapes at the foot of the Tassemit mountain, crossed by the small Dai Dai river.   Nature lovers will enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains and discover numerous caves and chasms which are the delight of speleologists and archaeologists. First stop in the town of Beni Mell, half way between  Marrakech and Fez. The city itself is not known as much as a tourist destination but here we will visit Kasbah Ras al Ain and garden of Ain Asserdoun which are in much better condition and worth a visit.  Inside this Kasbah is a spring and it is believed the Kasbah was built to protect this vital water source. Refreshment stop chez Fatima on café terrace over the Lake lhansali. Arrive at Oum Er-Rbia, one of Morocco’s most dramatic waterfalls, yet is probably one of the nation’s lesser-visited cascades. The river gushes through the local settlement, passing wooden riverside homes and restaurants.  Smaller falls along the river add to the beauty.  Small springs and cascades flow over the reddish-brown rocks, with tiny green plants presenting a contrast to the colours of the rocks and water.  An opportunity to enjoy a freshly cooked tajine with vegetables here (not included).Next continue through Khenifra National Park, sometimes known as Aguelmame Azigza National Park, home to diverse flora and fauna. It is especially known for its two large and beautiful lakes: Lake Aguelmame Sidi Ali and Lake Aguelmame Aziza. The park attracts relatively few local visitors.  Last stop today in Azrou, a charming city tucked into the hills of the Middle Atlas Mountains, at nearly 3,940 feet (1,200 meters) in elevation, it’s a great place to escape the heat.  Short break and walk here to explore the nearby Atlas cedar forest, home to the Barbary macaque. Though their population numbers may be low, you’ll easily spot a few apes along the side of the road. Arrive at the Bensmin valley and check in to your hotel.

Dinner and overnight at Rise in Valley Hotel.
Day 5:  Ifrane – Imouzzer kinder - Fes - Sefrou.  (B&L)
Today we will head away from the peace of the landscape in Ifrane to the hustle and bustle of Fes. the perfect place for a short break.  A UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Morocco’s most travelled Imperial cities.  Moroccan travellers visit Fes to discover the Fassi heritage’s historical treasures and haute cuisine.  You will begin your guided tour of the souks and handicraft traditions in the medina, Fès El Bali.   Every souk is reflected in the value of the items sold.  The makers and sellers are grouped together according to the products that they offer and every type of craft has its own street or part of the street which is centred on the kissaria.  Explore the royal palace and many interesting quarters including the Mellah (Jewish Quarter). For lunch, we will eat within the medina at one of the fine Moroccan palace-restaurants that serve an extravaganza of mezas (small plates of food) common among Fassis traditions. After lunch, we leave Fes for sefrou.  Stop in BHALIL, a curious village and worth visiting for its troglodyte houses built into the picturesque mountainside and picked out in pastel hues of pink, yellow and blue.  The cave dwellings date back to the 4th century and for hundreds of years have been inhabited by shepherds and used as storage spaces for sheep and cattle.  Enjoy a cup of tea with Kassem and his family.  Next panorama stops of the ramparts and bridges of Sefrou.   End your journey today in the “Switzerland of Morocco” called Ifrane.  Take your break in Lake Dayet Aoua, a big lake that offers a variety of activities and scenic views of the towering mountains.  The crisp, clear waters enchantingly reflect scenes from around the water. Whether you hop in a paddle boat, ride around the lake on horseback, or stroll alongside the body of water, you’re sure to have nice refreshment. Take some bread to feed the friendly ducks too!
Overnight in Rise in Valley.
Day 6:  Ifrane – Midelt - Rich – Imilchil - Tinghir  (B&D)
After breakfast in the hotel, leave Ifrane for Midelt, Imilchil and Tinghir. During this particular journey, you’ll experience glimpses of both the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas ranges. Carry the right camera to get great photos today! After spending a couple days between fruitful Eden of Ifrane and the frenzy area of Fes, we make our way to the arid back-land over winding roads through Midelt, the landscape offers some breathtaking views, especially of the “Jbel Ayachi”, which seems to rise out of nowhere. Up the road, we finally come across an active Berber community where you will be waved at and welcomed into a bedouin tent by the local nomads.  It’s not every day they get a chance to interact with foreigners, and their shyness will tell you that not many people come to visit them on a regular basis. Later on, you will reach the region of Ait Hididou where the myriad array of tribal cultures has mixed for centuries.  Finally, we will set in peaceful heaven around the” lake Tislit”. This land is known for many myths, one of which is the annual Imilchil Festival which celebrates the marriage of couples who they have only just met on the day of this ceremony. To the tribes of Ait Hdidou, the story of Romeo and Juliet is not only considered a mythical tragedy, but also a story of the history of two actual lovers from the region’s past.  Indeed, it is said that the Tislit and Isli rivers are filled by the tears of the ancient tribal lovers.  Enjoy your lunch in the camp overlooking the lake. Next, we will head down to Todgha Gorges; this is a series of river canyons, in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains, where a 300m-deep fault splits the orange limestone into a deep ravine at some points just wide enough for a crystal-clear river and single-file trekkers to squeeze through. Continue the road to Tinerhir passing green palm groves and Berber villages. Check in to your hotel.

Dinner and overnight in Kabsah Tomboctou.
Day 7:  Tinghir  -  Boumal n Dades  - Ourazazate  - Ait benhaddou  - Marrakech  (B&L)

Breakfast at the hotel.  Leave Tinghir for Ouarzazate, Ait Benhaddou to Marrakech.

Today we will discover the road of a thousand Kasbahs and enjoy stunning desert landscapes through the Dades Valley between the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas mountain ranges. The drive is spectacular, with hundreds of Kasbahs lining the route, winding through Berber villages, palm groves, and with the expansive Jebel Sarhro lunar-scape to the South.  The Dades Valley has a wild landscape, with snow on one side and semi-desert on the other, its savage grandeur and unearthly silence can be equalled only by the Grand Canyon. First stop in Kalaat M'Gouna which means “Valley of the Roses” and the city itself is named after the nearby Mount Mgoun.  The surrounding city is literally covered in roses.  A pink carpet as far as the eye can see dots the otherwise brown landscape.  Next stop is Ouarzazate.  Once upon a time, Ouarzazate was the ideal location for trading between the High Atlas region and the Sahara Desert.  People from the Atlas, Draa and Dades Valley would meet in the Taourirt Kasbah to trade goods and news, today filmmakers and crews alike have flocked here in recent years to film blockbusters such as Game of Thrones, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Prince of Persia, The Sands of Time, Body of Lies, The Mummy, Babel, Spy Games and many other movies in and around this desert city.  Continue to Ait Benhaddou.  Lunch break here (included). Then head for a short walk in Ounila Valley to visit the Ksar Ait Benhaddou. The ksar is a mainly collective group of dwellings. Inside the defensive walls which are reinforced by angle towers and pierced with a baffle gate, houses crowd together - some modest, others resembling small urban castles with their high angle towers and upper sections decorated with motifs in clay brick - but there are also buildings and community areas.  The last step during this tour continues through the route of Morocco’s old salt caravan road to the salt mines and the former palace of the Glaoui family that owned them. Return to Marrakech and end of the tour. Check in to your hotel.
