Your Itinerary —
Upon arrival in Marrakech you will be met and greeted at the airport and escorted to your private car and driver. You will leave Marrakech airport for Ouirgane Village, enjoying amazing scenery of the Atlas Mountains, before you arrive in the village. Check in to your hotel Domaine de La Roseraie, winner of a Tripadvisor 2017 Traveler's Choice award and a magical place in the Atlas Mountains. This retreat overlooks a pine forest, thousands of rose trees, century-old olive trees & various fruit trees. Your hotel features an indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, two saunas, three hammams, and ‘The Lab', dedicated to aromatherapy classes & Berber women’s beauty secrets. During your stay, you will have the opportunity to try their crystal salt therapy table, or a rain massage (effusion shower).Dinner and overnight at the Domaine de la Roseraie in a Standard double room.
Day 2: Ouirgane
After a late breakfast, your experienced mountain guide 'Said' is pleased to join you at 10:00 for a short trek through the area of Ouirgane. Your walking experience begins as you walk towards the east through fields of corn and flowers, following the river’s course up and down small hills dotted with red juniper. Pass by isolated Berber hamlets until you reach the salt mines at Marigha. The Berber people have been mining salt via centuries old traditional methods. You may see people riding from village to village, selling their salt from the backs of friendly donkeys. Depending on the time of day, you may enjoy your refreshment stop with a view over the lake of Khemis Ouirgane. Said will introduce you to a local family who will welcome you to their own home and serve you lunch.
After lunch, return to the hotel You may enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. Why not lounge poolside on a sunbed? Dinner and overnight at the hotel Domaine de la La Roseraie in a Standard double room.
Day 3: Ouirgane - Asni - Ourika - Demnate
After breakfast your English-speaking driver will meet you at approximately 8:30. Head to Demanate along the west and central High Atlas Mountains and valleys. Your first stop will be in the Col Sidi Fares with a magnificent panorama of Jbel Toubkal, which at 4,167 m is the highest in the range and lies in Toubkal National Park. The range serves as a weather system barrier in Morocco, running east-west and separating the Sahara from the Mediterranean, and continental zones to the North and West. In the higher elevations of the massif, snow falls here regularly, creating the perfect setting for winter sport (Oukaimeden ski resort).
Continue down the road to the Ourika Valley where the landscapes become progressively greener and the air progressively purer. You’ll drive by a succession of stunning views on the douar road, where the Ourika kasbahs’ majestically reign over the valley. There are beautiful hikes to be taken from Asguine, Aghbalou, Asgaour and Oulmes. The Ourika snakes through orchards gardens and fields and all year and the colors of the valley are simply dazzling. Aghbalou is the most important village on the Ourika oued (river) and here is where you will stop for a refreshment. You will marvel at the brick mosque with an unexpected twist on classic Islamic architecture. The site is perfect for a snack on the river shore.
After some free time for lunch, you will take the narrow country lanes towards Demnate via Ait Ourir and Touama. Enjoy your refreshment at Park Alit Adel, before arriving in Demnate. Dinner and overnight at Kasbah Illy in a Junior Suite.
In the heart of the High Central Atlas mountain range and away from the crowds and noise of Marrakech and cities, enjoy this full day tour with pleasant views in the Ait Bougmez valley. Nicknamed 'The Happy Valley' by the French, here you will discover its colorful fields of apples trees, tasty walnuts, and a large variety of vegetables.
After breakfast your tour embarks to Demnate via the natural bridge of Imi n Ifri. This is a bridge-like limestone cave towering 200 metres high. Ait Blal village looks like an animated impressionist painting, with the breeze rippling through golden wheat fields dotted with red poppies. The road here is fairly new, so the entire valley seems untouched by time. Mountains are striped gold, orange and purple, with green crops sprouting from stone-walled terraces. One hour drive later via Ait Bouelli, you will reach the happy valley in Ait Bougemez to have lunch in a nice and peaceful terrace with view of the Jbe Megoun and Agouti.
After lunch you’ll visit the dinosaur’s footprints on your way to Demnate, travelling through great and fantastic landscapes such as the conventional Berber villages and cliffs. Of course your driver is ready to stop whenever and wherever you wish for photos or just to take in the view. A visit to the collective store of Ait Bougmez people, not to be missed here, which has been built by the Jewish people during the 16th century. Return to the hotel by the end of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Kasbah Illy in a Junior Suite.
Day 5: Demnate - Ouzoud Water Falls - Marrakech
After breakfast, leave the Kasbah Illy behind and start your journey towards Ouzoud. After 45 minutes, you will reach one of the most spectacular sights in Morocco. Located in a plush valley, in a friendly Berber village, thee first stop will be at the panoramic viewing point of the three beautiful waterfalls with a series of spectacular plunges that drop 110m into the river below. Trek along the river up to the caves or Gorges of Oued el- Abid, or stay close by and enjoy Moroccan specialties and freshly squeezed orange juice at one of the many cafés along the path to the falls. Be sure to bring your camera and snap pictures that capture the essence of the beautiful cataracts and rainbows that often appear near the bottom of the falls.
Continue to Marrakech and check in to the Kech Boutique Hotel & Spa. At 15h00, meet your local guide at the reception and head for a walking tour of the souks and medina of Marrakech. Experience the hustle and bustle of life in Marrakech during this walking tour of the city. Visit the dramatic Almohades Koutoubia Minaret, a masterpiece of Hispano-Moresque art; explore the labyrinth of narrow alleys that comprise the colorful and bustling souks of Marrakech; experience the aroma of herbs and spices; see the copper and bronze artists at work; and visit the forged ironmongers and pottery souks. Head to the Berber apothecary for a display of magic potions, spices and a refreshing mint tea. You will see the traditional baker’s oven, and finally, visit the dyers' souk. Finish your visit of the souks at the Djemâa el Fna Square (the ‘Square of the Extinct’).
As the sun sets over Koutoubia, the Marrakchis come out to sell their wares, all to the African beat of the Gnaoua musicians.You will then take a horse and carriage ride through the Square, past the Mamounia, fountains and ramparts, to the traditional Riad Zaid. Here you will enjoy a delicious homemade tagine and barbecue on the terrace surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the Dar El Bacha medina. Your driver will return to take you back to the Kech Boutique Hotel & Spa for overnight in a Deluxe room.
Day 6: Departure or Extension Kech Boutiue Hotel & Spa
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel. You will then be met for a departure transfer to Marrackech airport OR your stay will be extended in Marrakech. If extended, stay for two additional nights at the Kech Boutique Hotel & Spa at your leisure.
