The resort of Santa Margherita di Pula occupies a long stretch of flat coastline, bordered by mature pine forests
, 29 miles south west of Cagliari.
The main attractions in the area are the dazzlingly white sandy beaches
and fresh sea air
, perfumed with the aroma of pine trees
and other flora. Further south are the marvellous sand dunes and beaches of Chia.
The nearest small town is Pula, with its shops, restaurants, bars and pizzerias.
A couple of miles or so from town are the Is Molas Golf Club
(27-hole), and a horse riding and trekking centre. Nearby you will also find the archaeological remains of Nora
, complete with the splendid floor mosaics of a Roman villa, amphitheatre and forum
Along this coast there is a bus service to and from Cagliari
(the Island's capital), but to explore further afield car hire is essential.
