Leaving Dublin travel via Clonmacnoise. Clonmacnoise is an ancient monastic site near Shannonbridge, County Offaly, and a top visitor attraction in Ireland. Many of the inhabitants of this region still speak Gaelic and ancient Celtic traditions and customs have been preserved.

You can also visit Kylemore Abbey, on the shores of Lough Corrib, a Victorian Castle in Tudor Style, beautifully situated on the shores of a lake and surrounded by the Twelve Bens– an impressive mountain range. Now it is the only remaining monastic home of the Benedictine nuns in Ireland who have restored its Victorian Gardens, which are well worth the visit.
