Your Itinerary

During their tour, our members will follow the itinerary as seen below.

Day 1: Arrival in Cochin
Upon arrival, you will be met and assisted by a local representative, before being transferred to the hotel for check-in at 2 pm. Heralded as the Queen of Arabian Sea, Cochin (Kochi) has been an important spice trading centre on the Arabian Sea coast since the 14th century. It was also the site of the first European colonial settlement in India and remained a settlement until 1530. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 2: Cochin
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a morning city tour of Cochin. Visit the Mattancherry Dutch Palace (closed on Fridays and National holidays) built by the Portuguese. Visit St. Francis Church, the oldest European Church in India. View the Chinese Fishing Nets, unique to this part of Kerala and a living symbol of a centuries old Chinese influence on this coast. Visit the Jewish Town and the Jewish Synagogue from outside (Closed on Fridays, Saturdays and all Jewish holidays). Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 3: Cochin
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a morning drive to Periyar (approx 4 hours). Uppn arrival, proceed to your hotel to check-in and enjoy free time. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 4: Periyar
At 7 am, proceed for a nature walk. This is an interpretive programme offering excellent opportunities to watch birds, butterflies and other wild life. Different nature trails traversing diverse habitats for the trekking route cover up to 4 or 5 kms in the Anavachal/ Anachuruli area. The trail often passes through evergreen and moist deciduous forests interspersed with marshy grasslands. The duration of the trek is roughly 2 and a half hours. Return to the hotel for breakfast, before proceeding on a Jeep ride through spice plantations in the afternoon. Enjoy cardamom, cinnamon, pepper, coffee, tea estates etc. In the evening, watch a thrilling Kalaripayattu (local martial arts performance). Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 5: Periyar - Kumarakom 
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a morning drive to Kumarakom (approx 3 and a half hours). Upon arrival in the backwaters, proceed to your hotel to check-in and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 6: Kumarakom - Alleppey
After breakfast at the hotel, check-out and make your way to the backwaters for 12:30 pm. You will be picked up from the resort to embark on your ‘Kettuvalloms’ to cruise along the tranquil backwaters. Kettuvalloms were primarily used for transporting paddy and other goods, but are now an integral part of Kerala’s tourism. Glide along the serene backwaters where you will find locals going about their daily chores. Enjoy lunch and dinner on board. Overnight stay on houseboat.
Day 7: Alleppey - Kovalam
After breakfast on board the Houseboat, disembark at 9:30 am and transfer to Kovalam (approx 4 hours). Upon arrival in Kovalam, transfer to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. In the evening, you'll get to enjoy a 20-minute foot massage. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 8: Kovalam
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a day of leisure or take an optional city tour of Trivandrum. Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 9 - Day 11 or Day 13: Kovalam
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy free time at leisure to take advantage of the hotel's facilities. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 10, 12 or 14: Kovalum - Departure
After breakfast at the hotel, check-out and enjoy a transfer to the airport for your return flight home.

Day 8: City Tour of Trivandrum with Lunch

Your Optional Excursions
Visit the Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple. (Non-Hindus are not allowed inside and an outside visit for photo stop will be provided). This temple dominates Trivandrum City. Visit Kuthiramalika Palace Museum or horse palace which houses numerous artefacts. Visit the Napier Museum for its unique collection of archaeological and historical objects. Lunch at Villa Maya Heritage restaurant - global cuisine presented in an elegant, restored 18th -century home.

Entry Requirements 

You must ensure you have a valid passport to travel on. 

You’ll need to get a visa before travelling to India. You can find further information about how to apply on the Indian High Commission website.

India’s Bureau of Immigration has announced that with immediate effect, foreign nationals who arrive at an Indian port holding non-machine readable passports will be denied entry. 

To transit through India you will need a transit visa. You can find more information on the Indian Immigration Bureau website.

All applicants of Pakistani origin who hold dual British-Pakistan nationality must apply for an Indian visa on their Pakistan passport. Those who have either renounced Pakistani nationality or cancelled their Pakistani passport would need to submit documentary proof of this.

If vaccinations or other preventive measures are required, you will need to visit your health professional at least 8 weeks before your trip.


You can take medicines into India as long as you carry the prescription with you. Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances are prohibited. Mosquito-borne diseases like Dengue Fever occur all year round. There’s been an increase in the number of cases of dengue fever, including in New Delhi.


UK health authorities have classified India as having a risk of Zika virus transmission. For information and advice about the risks associated with Zika virus, visit the National Travel Health Network and Centre website.


Cases of Chikungunya Virus have been confirmed in India, including in New Delhi. You should take steps to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.
