Your hotel is only a few steps away from Reykjavik attractions like the National Museum and University of Iceland. The Nordic house is just around the corner and the city center with its perpetual motion, museums, restaurants and shops, is only minutes away.
The old harbour is the heart and soul of Reykjavík. With a backdrop of majestic Mount Esja and the beautiful Faxafloi Bay, you'll find world-class restaurants, cutting edge galleries, funky cafés, and quirky shops. With it all, you’re still at the heart of a working harbour, where you can watch ships come in with their daily catches.
For stunning views of the city climb up Hallgrímskirkja Church tower or visit the pearl - an otherworldly creation with a viewing platform and a revolving restaurant on top of hot water storage tanks.
Your Itinerary —
Day 1. Arrival
Once you have landed at Keflavik Airport in Iceland, please pick up your luggage. Take the FlyBus Plus airport shuttle transfer to Hótel Saga, where you will staying on superior room. The superior room is 27 meter squared and includes a king size bed, nice view of the city, use of bathrobe and slippers,
free access to pay per view, a small refrigerator and a Nespresso coffee machine. Remember to let the FlyBus representative on the bus know what hotel you are using for drop-off.
Please note that hotel check-in cannot be guaranteed before 14.00 (2:00pm)
The rest of the day is open for your own activities. We suggest a walk in the Old Town area with galleries, museums, restaurants and pubs. A visit to one of the city´s geothermal swimming pools is a great way to shake off jetlag and a very Icelandic activity. It is also a great way to meet Icelanders. The Hotel Saga is located within walking distance of the historical Vesturbæjar Swimming Pool, one of the most popular swimming pools in Reykjavík. You will also have access to the hotel´s newly- refurbished Spa where you can relax. The Hotel Saga Spa includes a geotermal hot tub with saltwater, a dry sauna and a steam room. There are also massage treatments available (not included, but can be booked with the spa. The Spa is open 24 hours.
Day 2. Golden Circle and Relaxing Float in the Secret Lagoon
Enjoy the delicious and huge breakfast at the Hótel Saga. The morning is open for you to relax and enjoy the hotel enviornment. If you are interested in history, you might visit the nearby National Museum, which showcases Icelandic history from the Viking days to the present. (The National Museum opens at 10.00).
Please make sure that you are waiting outside the hotel at 12:00 noon for pick up for your Golden Circle and Floating tour. (Please remember to bring your swimsuit and towel, as rentals are not available at the Secret Lagoon) The first stop will be at Þingvellir National Park its a UNESCO world heritage site for its historical and geological significance. Next on the list is the Geysir geothermal area, which has interesting bubbling pools, mud pots and spouting hot springs. The most famous of these is Strokkur, which erupts about every ten minutes.Nearby is Gullfoss, The Golden Waterfalls. Many Icelanders believe this is the most beautiful waterfall in the country. The winter lends its own beauty, as the water freezes into interesting shapes. A variety of walking trails can bring you to interesting views of the falls from many angles.
We will make a dinner stop at Cafe Míka, a family-owned restaurant & cafe in the greenhouse village of Reykholt. The restaurant is known for its lobster dishes,bruschetta and its hand-made chocolates. Many ingredients are sourced from area farms. (Please note that dinner is not included in the package price)
Next is the Secret Lagoon, a natural hot spring pool located near Flúðir village. It is the oldest swimming pool in Iceland, dating from 1891, when it was built to teach locals how to swim. The area around it has kept its rustic, peaceful setting. It has been refurbished as a relaxing geothermal experience with the water tempatures varying between 38 - 40°C (100 - 104°F). There are various tiny geysers right around the lagoon, and guests can walk on a boardwalk around the Secret Lagoon to view the geysers and learn a a bit about the pool‘s history.
You will receive a special water helmet and leg supports that enable you to float and drift in the water as you listen to relaxing music from an underwater speaker. If Mother Nature cooperates, you may see the northern lights while floating. During your floating experience, you will also enjoy a 10-15 minute in-water massage.
A part of your experience will also be to enjoy some geothermal cooking! Discover how the locals use the underground heat for baking as you watch your tourguide dig up a tin of sweet rye bread that has been cooking undergound out the day. You will also get to try your hand at geothermal cooking; you will given a pole so that you can boil some eggs. Enjoy a late evening snack of hard boiled eggs and fresh backed bread after your swim in the Secret Lagoon. Along with these treats, you´ll also get to toast the evening with a shot of the famous Icelandic Black Death schnapps and a taste of hákarl (cured shark meat).
Afterwards, enjoy a hunt for the northern lights (weather permitting) on your way back to Reykjavik,

Day 3. Day for Own Activities
Breakfast at your hotel. Today is open for your own activities in Reykjavík or on a day tour. Perhaps you will enjoy a guided Reykjavík sightseeing tour by bus, foot, bike or maybe even a tuk-tuk vehicle!. Maybe you‘ll visit the world-famous Blue Lagoon. Take a trip along the amazing volcanic and black sand beach of the South Shore. Or try the once-in-a-lifetime “Into the Glacier“ experience where you can walk into a glacial tunnel and see how glaciers look from the inside!
Tonight enjoy a buffet dinner at the Hotel Saga‘s Skrúður Restaurant. This is popular with visitors and locals and features an ice cream bar. (Dinner buffet is open 18.00 – 21.00. You can change this to Day 1 as well. Please contact the hotel restaurant to make a reservation).
We recommend tonight that you speak with your hotel front desk staff to find out the best departure of the FlyBus to take. The hotel staff can also arrange for the FlyBus to pick you up from the hotel tomorrow.
Overnight in Reykajvik.
Day 4 or 5 . Departure
Breakfast at your hotel. FlyBus Plus airport transfer to Keflavik airport for your flight home. Please be prepared to depart your hotel about 3 hours before your flight.
