Day 3: South Shore - Eyjafjallajokull Volcano
You will spend this day exploring the region close to the towering, volcano Eyjafjallajokull, which is probably the most famous volcano in the world today. At the Volcano Visitor Centre at Thorvaldseyri Farm, located beneath Eyjafjallajokull, you will be able to see, both in pictures and on film, the eruption and its impact on the nearby countryside, the country itself and the world.
You’ll then visit a modern Icelandic grain farm where milk and beef are also produced. Following the coast line, you will make a stop at the spectacular waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. Then it’s onwards to Reynisfjara beach, viewing the extraordinary rock formations and thundering waves of the Atlantic Ocean.Overnight stay and Northern Lights hunt in Kirkjubaejarklaustur area.
