Your Destination —
Thanks to its strategic position, Rhodes has been important since ancient times, each time building on what was there before. From the old town's warren of cobbled streets - the best preserved medieval streets in Europe - to the 'new' old city that encircles it. Magnificent Venetian buildings give way to neoclassical beauties, a day sent wandering around this vibrant city is a lesson in living history and art.
On the other side of the city there is yet more to see, you can visit Rodíni Park, a true paradise with many peacocks, streams and paths amidst oleander bushes, cypress, maple and pine trees. Saint Stefanos Hill (known as Monte Smith) marks the site of the Acropolis, one of the most important centres of worship, education and recreation in ancient times on Rhodes. At the top of the hill you will find the remains of the Temple of Apollo, what better place for the home of the Ancient Greek sun god than this sunny vista.
