Pounda Paou is remotely positioned, so we highly recommend the use of a car to venture further afield and to enjoy the true delights of the local area. They include the beautiful monastery of Agios Nikolaos above Kalamos
and the magnificent central mountains, the eastern coastline of the Pelion Peninsula
including a trip on the extraordinary narrow gauge railway at Milies or perhaps Meteora
with its famous monasteries perched on top of soaring rock pinnacles.
As Pounda Paou is isolated, we have included the option of a motor boat or car hire for the duration of your stay or for the best of both worlds you can choose a three day combination of both which allows you to explore both by sea and land. The motor boats can be used until 4/5pm each day giving you the freedom to see a completely different aspect of the coastline. For an alternative choice of tavernas one can venture to the waterside village of Horto around the headland from Pounda Paou
, which is twenty minutes by car and quicker by boat, Milina with a wider choice or Argalasti a ten minute drive from Paou.
