Reached by boat from Nidri, passing Skorpios, Meganisi’s tranquil bays and traffic free lanes offer a stunning contrast to some of the more hectic Greek destinations. With just three or four villages, hardly more than hamlets in reality and almost no tourist development, this is the perfect island to escape from the stresses and strains of a busy life.
Katomeri, where the hotel is situated, has a few tavernas where the chances are that a visitor will be offered a glass of ouzo and a game of cards. The only other village on the main road (a misnomer if ever there was one!) is Spartohori, an immaculate small settlement of whitewashed houses half buried in a riot of bougainvillea and jasmine, with outstanding views across to Lefkada and Skorpios.
Other tavernas can be found near the quay in Vathi, just one kilometre away and the nearest beach is about 30 minutes walk from the hotel.
