BÖTTCHERSTRAßE
This old narrow street lined with craftsmen was given its name in the Middle Ages by barrel makers and coopers (Böttcher) located here. Today you can find here little shops, a bonbon manufacture and the Paula- Moderson-Becker museum.
SCHNOOR QUARTER
Schnoor is the name of a street in the oldest part of the city of Bremen. Pretty, little half-timbered houses, dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries, with narrow lanes between the rows of buildings. The name of the quarter may allude to the fact that the houses are lined up like pearls on a string, Schnoor being low German for Schnur (string). Another interpretation of the name is that this part of the old fishermen's quarter, right by the river Weser, was where the rope makers used to live. Visitors can browse for arts and crafts and handmade gold, rest their legs in one of the many cafés and restaurants or buy a souvenir to take home.
KUNSTHALLE BREMEN
Only a few minutes’ walk away from Bremen’s central market square, the Kunsthalle Bremen’s building has stood in the Wall gardens for over 150 years.
Beyond the collection, the Kunsthalle offers a constantly changing series of small- and large-scale exhibitions to visitors as well as an extensive art educational program for all age groups.
