Our offers include wine tasting at the following vineyards:
Château de Meursault
This tastefully restored Château is one of Burgundy’s most beautiful and extensive domains – measuring nearly 60 hectares. Grapes here are grown organically, and the vineyards are planted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varieties – two of Burgundy’s finest.
Your visit begins in the château’s former Orangerie dating from the 19th century. You will admire a beautiful collection of paintings by contemporary masters such as Buffet, Carzou, Ciry, Dufy, Rohner, etc. You will stroll through the vast, ancient cellars beneath the château dating from the 14th and 16th centuries which house some 800,000 bottles as well as 2000 “pièces”. Parts of these cellars were excavated by the monks of Citeaux and represent an unquestionable architectural attraction. One of them, 600 square metres in area, has double vaulting and offers an absolutely unique perspective.
Your visit ends with a tasting of the domain’s prestigious wines. The entire range of different vintages arriving at maturity is presented in the château’s former kitchens. There, you will be able to view a vast selection of wines from the Côte de Beaune. Cellarmen and sommeliers will be pleased to assist you with your choice according to your requirements.
Château de Marsannay
Marsannay, situated along the Grands Crus Route, just minutes from Dijon, is considered as the Golden gateway of the Côte de Nuits. The Château of Marsannay is located in the heart of this ancient viticultural village, which has a long history dating back to as early as 630, when its vineyards belonged to the Abbey of Bèze.
This vineyard is planted exclusively with the Pinot Noir grape variety for the red and rosé wines, and Chardonnay for the whites.
Your visit will begin with the gift of a screen-printed glass to use for the tastings which commence with the presentation of the old vathouse and its equipment : crusher, press, fermentation tanks, wood tuns. You will descend 9 metres to arrive in the vaulted cellars located beneath the Château. Constructed according to Burgundian tradition in Cistercian style, they maintain a constant temperature of 15°C, and store 500 standard 228 litre barrels, plus approximately 400,000 bottles. Your visit will end with a selected tasting of the Estate’s prestigious wines whose different vintages and ages offer an excellent sampling of the Crus or classed wines of the Côte de Nuits.
Château de Pommard
Today, Château de Pommard is the largest private vineyard in Bourgogne. Its 20 hectares of wines in a single plot belonging to the same owner are enclosed by a two-metre high wall. That very fact makes it unique.
Its terroir draws its strength from a clay and limestone soil that was formed in the Upper Jurassic age and the microclimate that prevails in the vineyard. Each plot has its own identity, which is why Philippe Charlopin, the master winemaker, makes the wine from them separately. The quintessence of Pommard is expressed by the old vines, which bring out the best of Pinot Noir. As the grapes turn into Pommard wine, the vine stocks and the terroir triumph in producing the most exciting tastes.
Please note that transfers to the vineyards are not included, guests must make their own way. See the menu on the right hand side for details of which vineyards are included in each offer.
