Château de Pondres comes with over 700 years of history:
Fall in love with its mesmerising combination of gargoyles and boxwood, gourmet food and beautifully adorned rooms. The castle was built in the 12th
century, though records suggest a Roman presence in the area even centuries before that. The Château was renovated in the mid-17th century only to be ravished by the Revolution
– documents bragged of the jewel theft and burning of archives that happened in the front court, destroying any papers that could now help us decipher the lineage and history of this unique location.
After careful renovation and reconstruction – a feat that has taken work from Joseph Isidor de Montlaur in 1818 to present day – the castle is now equipped with modern amenities while continuing to honour its historic, decadent past. Visit the range of architectural wonders that adorn the hotel: the tower, cannons, grand fireplaces, a renaissance staircase and a painted chapel.
Spend the sunny days swimming in the outdoor pool or lazing on the sun terrace. The restaurant and bar are also open for your enjoyment during your stay: let yourself fall in love with the way the hotel has shaped its traditional exterior to contemporary needs.
