Ylläs is a great place for skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and many more wintry activities. As well as the more traditional activities it is also possible to try something a little more unusual, for example ice fishing in one of the many frozen lakes.
There's a plethora of interesting places to visit, including Saint Lauri’s chapel and Kellokas Nature Centre. Familiarize yourself with reindeer husbandry in reindeer farms in Ylläs, meander around Art Galleries to admire original Lappish art forms, visit the ancient sacred place of the Sami people. and discover the Ylläs smoke saunas.
Your Itinerary —
On the day of your arrival, a tour representative will welcome you at Kittila Airport and take you to your hotel in the Village of Akaslompolo. Dinner will be served at the restaurant building and you will be shown to your fully equipped apartment. Depending on your arrival time, you will be provided with cold weather gear either in the evening or the next morning.
You'll embark on a snowmobile safari to a wilderness lake to catch some fish! Try your luck at traditional ice fishing in whats known as the best fishing destination of Ylläs. Savour an outdoor lunch and finish with a refreshing cup of coffee served around a campfire.
Take some time to relax in the afternoon or hit the slopes in your ski gear before settling down for dinner at the hotel.
After a hearty breakfast, you'll be on your way to a magical reindeer safari; the reindeeer sleigh ride will take you deep into the wilderness, where you'll learn facts and fiction about traditional reindeer husbandry from a genuine herdsman. Coffee will be served over an open fire alongside homemade cookies, followed by another delicious dinner at the hotel .
Spend your last day in Finland embarking on a memorable experience: a husky sled ride. You'll be driven to your excursion for an adventure-filled journey through the wilderness with friendly huskies with a real passion for running! After this unforgettable experience, sip on hot berry juice whilst listening to fascinating stories about the daily lives of these lovable dogs.
Spend your afternoon relaxing or paying a visit to the sauna before dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast in the hotel, it's time to say goodbye. You will be driven to Kittila Airport for your flight back home.
