Lapland offers a huge variety of activities during the winter. Besides the traditional cross country and downhill skiing there are exciting snowmobile, dog sled and reindeer safaris.
Your Itinerary —
Day 1: Arrival in Helsinki
Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel via airport bus (detailed instructions will be on the vouchers).
Overnight in a Standard Room at Scandic Grand Marina with breakfast included.
Day 2: Overnight train to Rovaniemi
Make your way to the train station for your journey to Rovaniemi. You will be accommodated in a private compartment but a private bathroom is not guaranteed.
Enjoy a Private Compartment when you travel from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. A restaurant car is open until late and early in the morning — watch the views go by as the sun rises with a coffee! Your Private Compartment has luggage space, a power outlet and more ensure you can travel in comfort to Rovaniemi.
Overnight on the train (accommodation only). Please note that the supplier might use another train if this train is not available.
Day 3: Arrival in Rovaniemi
Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can check-in.

Embark on a 2 hour trek into Lapland's beautiful landscape. During this fun safari, you’ll learn how to snowmobile along frozen rivers and through forests covered with snow. Enjoy the beautiful views of the river valley from the hilltops. A break with hot beverages will keep your motor running.

Clients will be picked up 45 Minutes before the safari begins. The snowmobile is shared between 2 people, the driver must be at least 18 years old and hold a driving licence which is valid in Europe. Please bring your licence with you (instructions will be on the voucher sent).
Day 5: Free Time
Soak up Lapland Hotel Ounasvaara Chalets' cosy atmosphere while you take supper at the hotel’s restaurant Thulia - a Lappish dining restaurant, which serves breakfast, and during winter, traditional Lapland dishes in a fine dining setting. Enjoy your meal by the flames of a fireplace and feel the hectic pace of life drain away.
You can also sit and relax in the lobby bar and enjoy a cup of something hot, or a glass of cold drink. The lobby bar is open during reception opening times.
You can also choose to add 2 optional excursions (found below) at the next stage of the booking process for an additional fee.

After breakfast you will be transferred to your next hotel which is constructed completely of ice and snow. Spend a night in other-worldly surroundings where you will be amazed by the unique world created by the wintry decorations.

Day 7: Departure
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport in time for your flight home. This will be a shuttle transfer and your pick up time will be specified on your voucher.
Optional Excursions —
Santa Claus Safari
Our most popular safari combines nature, culture and the spirit of Christmas. The day starts with a snowmobile safari to a reindeer farm where you will hear more about reindeer husbandry and Lappish culture. You can take a reindeer ride and attend a special Lapp ceremony of crossing the Arctic Circle. In the afternoon the trip continues by car to Santa Claus Village with time to do shopping in Santa Claus’s Village. You will also have an opportunity to send postcards from Santa Claus’ main post office. During the tour, you will get to meet Santa Claus himself and enjoy a delicious lunch in a cosy restaurant. And you will get a Diploma for crossing the Arctic Circle! Please note! Due to the track/ weather conditions in December, for safety reasons transfers to and from farms may be done by car. Snowmobiles will be ridden as part of the programme.
Activity days: Every day (except 24th Dec) 10:00-16:00 (duration 6 hours).
Aurora Borealis Adventure
After stepping out of the car in the middle of nowhere, we walk down to a river experiencing the surrounding sleeping nature. We reach the best spot to please our eyes, but be patient the aurora loves playing hide-and-seek; we never know when they can show up! While observing nature’s own theatrical performance we fry sausages surrounded by the great aroma of the fire. Before returning to civilization, we drop by a cosy old building “Poro-Pekan Pirtti”. The hosts warmly welcome us and show us their dwelling, which takes us into the past. This relaxing escape will definitely satisfy all our senses. Transfer to the wilderness and back by car (50 km one way).
Activity days: Mon, Wed & Fri (except April) 21:00 – 01:00 (duration 4 hours).
