Our Offers

14 nights: This trip is 2 nights in a hotel in Shanghai followed by a 7 night cruise down the Yangtze River followed by 5 night stays in Xian & Beijing

Your Destination

This classic itinerary visits the three most famous cities of China: cosmopolitan Shanghai, historic Xian and bustling Beijing. Included are the must-see sights of the Terracotta Warriors, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall.

Shanghai

Shanghai is a renowned international metropolis drawing more and more attention from all over the world. Situated on the estuary of Yangtze River, it serves as the most influential economic, financial, international trade, cultural, science and technology center in East China. In addition to its modernisation, the city's multicultural flair endows it with a unique glamour.

Here, visitors can find the perfect blend of cultures - the modern and the traditional, and the western and the oriental. New skyscrapers and old Shikumen stand side by side to draw the skyline of the city. Western customs and Chinese traditions intertwine and form the city's culture, making a visitor's stay truly memorable.

Yangtze River

China's longest and most scenic waterway carves its way some truly dramatic scenery.  Cruising down the Yangzi is a unique experience that will take you past astonishing panoramas, sparkling emerald waters and sheer rock faces that tower above you.

But The Yangtze River is more than just jaw dropping scenery, it is also one of the world’s largest and most famous waterways, flowing through China’s dramatic and varied scenery. From its source in Qinghai Province, the Yangtze travels almost 4,000 miles into the East China Sea at Shanghai, dividing China into north and south.
The spectacular mixture of culture, scenery and incredible feats of engineering along the river are unlike anything you will have seen before. From the extraordinary natural beauty of the Three Gorges, to the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, via ancient Imperial Capitals and tiny riverside communities, the Yangtze River offers an experience not to be missed.

Xian

As the eastern terminal of the Silk Road and the site of the famous Terracotta Warriors of the Qin Dynasty, Xian has won a reputation all over the world. More than 3,000 years of history including over 1,100 years as the capital city of ancient dynasties, have endowed the city with an amazing historical heritage. Visitors marvel at the numerous historical sites and cultural relics in and around the city.

Beijing

As one of the six ancient cities in China, Beijing has been the heart and soul of politics and society throughout its long history and consequently there is an unparalleled wealth of discovery to delight and intrigue travellers as they explore the city's ancient past and exciting modern development. Now it has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

A visa is required to travel on this tour. Please refer to www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice prior to departure for the latest requirements and how to apply.

Legend has it that in 25AD, white vapour in the shape of a dragon rose from a well here, and Gong Sunshu, a soldier who had his headquarters here, declared himself the White Emperor. Remains of the city wall can be seen on the hill behind Baidi Mountain, and a temple built to commemorate Gong's reign dates back over 1,950 years.
