Cape Town
There is such a diversity of attractions and activities you will not be disappointed with your city experience. Offering fantastic views of the city, Table Mountain dominates the skyline. For natural surroundings, there are gardens, beaches and vineyards all close by. Cape Town is steeped in history and many of the museums and monuments have much to tell. For a cosmopolitan and lively experience, visit the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with a wide variety of shops, restaurants and craft markets.
Stellenbosch
The mild weather and unique territory is ideal for wine-growing and the region has amassed many international awards over the years. Daily wine-tasting and cellar tours are available at most of the numerous vineyards. Many also have restaurant and picnic facilities to spend a leisurely afternoon.
Oudtshoorn
The region is home to the spectacular Cango Caves - Africa's largest show cave system - and the Swartberg Mountain range, which is part of the Cape Floral World Heritage Site.
Hermanus
The whales can be found between the months of May and November. Whale enthusiasts and nature lovers from all over the world visit Hermanus to enjoy these magnificent creatures playing and frolicking. Hermanus is the best land based whale watching destination in the world, and is thus is known as the heart of the whale route.
The popular cliff path stretches from one side of the town to the other, about 12 km of fresh unpolluted air. An excellent walk and place for whale watchers to study and enjoy these amazing gigantic mammals and get within closer range than you can dream of. Telescopes situated alongside the Old Harbour Museum makes it possible to survey the entire Walker Bay and the whales and dolphins at close range. Those still wanting to discover the area's thrilling marine life outside of whale season can go Great White Shark cage diving all year round from the nearby town of Gansbaai.
You can also visit the wine estates in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley, a beautiful road that runs through the valley from Hermanus. The best local estates are Bouchard Finlayson and Hamilton Russell. Make the most of your car hire with a day visit to the town of Arniston, a quaint fishing town that is also close to Cape Agulhas, the most southern tip of Africa and the official dividing point between the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean.

Day 1: Arrival into Cape Town
Upon arrival in South Africa, you will take your shared transfer from the airport to your hotel for your 4-night stay in Cape Town.
Explore Cape Town attractions at your own pace. Why not do it on a Hop-On Hop-Off Sightseeing Tour? With two main scenic routes, you'll get to see a heritage-rich city centre on the red route and a breathtakingly beautiful mini-peninsula on the blue route. The Mother City is probably the most popular starting point for any visit to South Africa and it is here that you can see world-renowned, historical landmarks; climb the summit of Table Mountain, head to Cape Point and more!
See the resident penguins of Boulders Beach; head to the Cape of Good Hope or relish in an adrenaline-filled shark dive, not far out of the city! Other highlights include Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak, Lion’s Head, Signal Hill and more!
Collect your rental car & set off for famously beautiful Stellenbosch in Western Cape. In this region, guests can discover the Cape Winelands - the origin of some of the world's most popular wines and a destination of ultimate indulgence and relaxation just north of Cape Town.
Spend the day exploring or simply relaxing and drink in the sites of this mountainous wine region. Try internationally renowned, fine wines and amazing gastronomy too - you don't need to worry about driving at this point because here, you'll do an overnight stay!
Must see: Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek and Somerset West - each of these destinations are easy to access in the car and boast their own wine route. You can travel from one estate to the next to taste the wines!
Distance from Cape Town to Stellenbosch: 51 km / 45 mins.
Leave Stellenbosch & continue along the Garden Route towards the harbour town of Mossel Bay or through the country past various natural reserves, before reaching your next destination of Oudtshoorn.
Whilst in Oudtshoorn, you will enjoy two bush game drives, during which you can expect to experience true Karoo vegetation from the open game viewing vehicles. With a wide range of animals including the Hippo, Elephant, Giraffe, Eland, Zebra, Buffalo, Rhino, Springbok and much more, you will get a true taste of the South African game experience. During these drives, you may also stop at scenic lookout points which offer panoramic views of the area as well as the Swartberg Mountains.
Why not explore the area and head down south towards Mossel Bay? Enjoy a tranquil eco-destination where opportunities for observing nature is in abundance! Mossel Bay is also a sports enthusiast’s paradise and the ideal place to venture out on a boat trip – head to Seal Island, where you can get a close encounter with some Cape fur seals or go whale watching!
Distance from Stellenbosch to Oudtshoorn: 395 km / 4h 35 mins.
Proceed to travel back west towards Hermanus, known for its wildlife. While in Hermanus, you can spend the day looking out for its most famous residents - whales!
Look out for whales from the coastline or partake in a whale watching boat cruise (not included). Visit the windswept beaches of Hermanus, including Grotto Beach, which has been awarded Blue Flag status. For those seeking a few more thrills, you are able to book a shark cage diving experience (not included) for an eye-to-eye encounter with a Great White Shark.

Day 11: Departure
Today you will travel back to Cape Town where you will drop your rental car and take your departure flight back to the UK.
