Day 2 Cape Town City Tour Half Day
On a clear day from the summit of Table Mountain you get spectacular views of the City, its Waterfront, Camps Bay, the majestic Hottentots Holland Mountains to the East and the mountains of the Cape Peninsula all the way down to Cape Point to the south.
The Table Mountain cableway, a must for all visitors to the Cape, boasts revolving floors, giving passengers a 360-degree view. After descending the mountain, you will depart on a tour of the “Mother City” taking in Signal Hill – where the Noon Day Gun is fired at midday, every day except Sunday – through the colourful Bo-Kaap or Cape Malay Quarter, past the Grand Parade, City Hall and the Castle of Good Hope and South African Cultural History Museum.

Start the day early, travelling via Sea Point and the Clifton beaches to Camps Bay. Here you have the option to embark on a boat trip to Duiker Island to view the seal colony frolicking around the island alongside various seabirds.
You will then proceed along Chapman’s Peak Drive (weather permitting), passing the sun-kissed beaches Noordhoek to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve where breath-taking views can be relished around every corner.Move along to Cape Point, the most Southern tip of Africa and head up to its lighthouse, from where the open ocean stretches further than the eye can see. Your day will then continue towards Simon’s Town, South Africa’s naval base and home to Boulders Beach and its colony of African penguins. Before returning to Cape Town, you can stop at the town of Muizenberg where famous colourful cabins are perched along its soft sands.
If time permits, you will end the tour with a visit to Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, nestled within the folds of Table Mountain.

From the 17th to the 20th centuries, Robben Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder to the newly democratic South Africa of the price paid for freedom.
Visitors to Cape Town can take a boat ride out to the island, where an extensive tour of the prison, where Nelson Mandela was held, offers insight into the Apartheid era of South Africa. Guides are often ex-political prisoners who are happy to share their own tales of imprisonment and their version of life on the island. Visitors can also explore the natural haven of the island, as it is home to a variety of wildlife and indigenous foliage.

From Cape Town make your way out into the picturesque winelands visiting South Africa’s most famous wine regions – Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. Aside from the excellent wines the area is renowned for its food and is steeped in history such as the Taal monument, various museums and the contribution of the French Huguenots. There are also many attractions you wouldn’t expect to find on a wine route, from butterflies to cheetahs and pretty much everything in between.
