Africa's most popular tourist destination has much to offer
South Africa is a country that draws people back time and again. With almost year-round sunshine, it offers some of the familiarity of Europe against dramatically beautiful scenery, such as a thriving cafe culture in its Cape Town capital set against the imposing Table Mountain. There are many vineyards to visit across the country, and the Stellenbosch area offers the chance for luxury holidays complete with wine tastings and tours. You'll also find opportunities for watersports and wildlife watching. It's possible to see whales at certain times of the year and there are Great White Shark diving expeditions, if you're brave enough!
South African wildlife
South Africa offers an extremely significant selection of wildlife. Whilst it's possible to see the bigger African mammals here, don't overlook the flora. South Africa is one of the world's floral gardens, meaning this relatively small area has more species than many entire continents. You'll see a selection of some of the fynbos (natural shrubland) as you hike around the area. Try taking the cable car up Table Mountain to see the tough little plants surviving on this high rocky plain and you'll get an idea of the kind of plant variety the area has to offer.
Highlights of Cape Town
Many visitors to South Africa never manage to leave Cape Town - and we can't really blame them. This city has a great deal of variety to offer visitors. We strongly suggest you start any visit to the city with a ride on the open bus tour around the bay. It takes several hours and you can hop on and off as you experience the stunning coast line. Cape Town also offers some interesting craft markets and a weekly food market at Biscuit Mill. Whilst there are traditional bead crafts on offer, South Africa offers far more in the way of modern handicrafts these days, including modern homewards.
South Africa has an attractive exchange rate for UK travellers and, combined with our exclusive offers, you'll find it can be a cost-effective place for an indulgent luxury holiday.
