Explore the volcanic landscape

The island of Fuerteventura is basically one massive volcano, so it's the perfect opportunity to hike through its natural beauty. Montana de Tindaya is the oldest mountain within the whole of the Canary Islands and is a sacred mountain to the indigenous people of the island. Unfortunately, you can't climb up, but it's a perfect picture opportunity. If you want to walk through lava craters and experience the true nature of a volcano then head to Corralejo and take a walk from here to Lajaries. It's a four-hour trek, so stay hydrated and wear sunscreen, but the views you will be greeted with are mind-blowing and worth the heat.

Visit the Ajuy Caves

These caves are located in the small coastal village of Ajuy, situated on the western coast of Fuerteventura. From the centre of the village, you take a quaint coastal path which leads to the north side of the village and here you will be greeted with mind-blowing caves that legends said were once the secret hideouts of pirates. It's a perfect day-trip for those interested in adventure and experiencing something a little different.
