Your Itinerary —
During their tour, our members will follow the itinerary as seen below. This is a shared tour and groups could be any size from 2-16 people.
Pleasr Note: The Vietnam traditional new year celebrations take place between 24 January – 29 January 2020. During this period many monuments will be closed and can only be visited externally, and the floating markets and other traditional markets also cease business during these days. Many shops and restaurants will be closed for holidays and there will also be large queues to board at the airports since it will be the most important holiday period for Vietnamese. For this reason, your guide will be able to alter the schedule and / or order of the visits accordingly when travel in during these times, so that the program can be carried out as normally, Aurora Travel will try as far as possible that these alterations are the minimum. We do not recommend travelling through Vietnam on these dates. Vietnam also celebrates the National Day of Vietnam on April 30, May 01 and September 02, so it is possible that you will have limited access to some streets or places of interest on these dates.
After a long flight, you will arrive in the thousand-year-old city of Hanoi. Your driver will transfer you to your hotel in the city centre. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and enjoy an overnight stay in Hanoi.
Day 2: Full Day Orientation in Hanoi (Breakfast Included)
After breakfast, the day will start with a visit to the complex dedicated to Ho Chi Minh - the nation’s founder, containing Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (viewed from outside on Mondays, Fridays and every afternoons due to closure), and the house on stilts, One Pillar Pagoda. Next up, visit Tran Quoc Pagoda - Hanoi’s oldest pagoda on the bank of West Lake & Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university which was constructed in the 11th century. Then, head back to your hotel and enjoy free time for lunch at your own expense.
In the afternoon, take a cyclo ride around the Old Quarter streets which were named after the specific goods once offered for sale in these places. Stop at Hoan Kiem Lake to learn about legend of the lake and visit the Ngoc Son Temple, followed by a Water Puppet show - a uniquely Northern Vietnamese art form depicting scenes from rural life and episodes of national history. Overnight in Hanoi.
After breakfast, meet your driver at the hotel’s lobby and depart by road to Ha Long Bay, a World Heritage Area of outstanding natural beauty. Travel through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta and the landscape of rice fields, water buffalo, and the daily life of the Vietnamese village. Arrive in Ha Long and board your boat, before enjoying lunch on board. The cruise passes by many rocks and islets in many funny shapes. The cruise may stop for a while to visit a cave. Later on, the junk will move to a docking area for an ovenight stay. Dinner and overnight on board
