Your Destination —
The old harbour is the heart and soul of Reykjavík. With a backdrop of majestic Mount Esja and the beautiful Faxafloi Bay, you’ll find world-class restaurants, cutting edge galleries, funky cafés, and quirky shops. With it all, you’re still at the heart of a working harbour, where you can watch ships come in with their daily catches.
For stunning views of the city climb up Hallgrímskirkja Church tower or visit the pearl - an otherworldly creation with a viewing platform and a revolving restaurant on top of hot water storage tanks.
Your Itinerary —
Once you have landed at Keflavik Airport in Iceland, please pick up your luggage. Take the FlyBus Plus airport shuttle transfer to the Reykjavík Lights Hotel. Remember to let the FlyBus representative on the bus know what hotel you are using for drop-off. The Reykjavík Lights Hotel is an interesting hotel that is decorated according to each day of the Old Viking calendar. Please note that hotel check-in cannot be guaranteed before 2:00 PM.
The rest of the day is open for your own activities. We suggest a walk in the Old Town area with galleries, museums, restaurants and pubs. A visit to one of the city´s geothermal swimming pools is a great way to shake off jet lag and a very Icelandic activity. It is also a great way to meet Icelanders. The Reykjavík Lights Hotel is within walking distance of the popular Laugardalurslaug geothermal pool, the largest one in Reykjavík. Also nearby is the relaxing Laugar Spa. Also in the area of the hotel are the year-round botanical gardens and the intriguing Ásmundur Sveinsson sculpture museum. Many restaurants are located in walking distance of the hotel. The hotel is about a 20 minute easy walk to Laugavegur, the main shopping street and the Hlemmur area, which is emerging as a cool place for pubs, restaurants and musical entertainment. A city bus stop is located near the hotel. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 2. Reykjavík Your Way: Reykjavík City Card

You also will get access to the City Buses, the ferry to Víðey Island and the Reykjavík Geothermal Swimming pools. You will also get discounts to over 30 restaurants, shops and services in the Reykjavík area. You can easily spend an enjoyable and full day in the world‘s northernmost capital city! Overnight at your hotel in Reykjavík.
Breakfast at your hotel. The morning is open for your activities, but please be waiting outside your hotel for the 10.30 tour bus pick up for an exciting All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) tour in the Reykjanes Peninsula.
The Reykjanes (pronounced RAY-key-a- ness) area is a mystical area created by ancient volcanic activity. Parts of it give the feeling of being on another planet, and parts of it give an idea of how Iceland´s haunting highland interior looks. It also sits on the coast, where you can see the jagged cliffs and pounding ocean waves. This area was recently designated a Geopark, a UNESCO recognised area that has international geological significance and is protected by sustainable practices.
It is the perfect setting for an ATV tour! The trip starts from the Blue Lagoon area, where the vechicles are waiting for you. After a short lesson in how to operate the ATV vehicles (quad bikes), you´ll follow your guide on a trip between lava and black sands. Your one hour tour begins by heading towards two interesting mountains, Húsafell and Fiskidalsfjall. Drive up a mountain called Hagafell. From the top of the mountain, you can expect a great view in all directions. On a clear day, you can see the Blue Lagoon area and Eldey Island. Then you´ll drive along the Reykjanes coastline, where you will see the dramatic remains of shipwrecks.
The tour ends at the Blue Lagoon. Relax after the ATV adventure with a dip in this famous geothermal lagoon surrounded by a rugged lava field. The unique minerals create a silica mud that is perfect for soothing your skin. (Keep an eye out for buckets with silica mud that you can rub on your face and body). The Lagoon area also has an old fashioned steam hut, a modern sauna and steam bath and a massage waterfall. In addition, there also is a cafeteria, the beautifully-designed Lava Restaurant and a gift shop.
Stay in the Blue Lagoon as long as you like. Your tour includes transfer back to Reykjavik, and you can take any of the scheduled tour buses heading from the Blue Lagoon back to Reykjavík. The rest of the day is open for your own activities. Overnight at your hotel.
Included: hotel pick up/drop off, transfers to/from the Blue Lagoon and the ATV Quad Bike area, guided 1 –hour ATV tour (2 people sharing ATV), all necessary equipment for the ATV tour (overall, gloves, mask, boots, helmet and rain coverall).
